I recently put out a call on my website (http://kinokofry.com) but I figured I'd post it here too. I have someone trying to recover all the data/comics/artwork lost on a broken HDD and it's, of course, the worst problem you can have. He needs a specific drive. A VERY specific drive.
I thought I'd post it here too in the hopes of widening the scope of my search. If any of you have a techy kinds of friends and think they might be able to help/be interested in a new HDD, I'd appreciate it! Though I realise it's an odd thing to ask :) I have no expectations, but I'm trying everything I can as this is probably the last thing I can do.
Craig:
From the sticker on the top of the drive: Samsung HD501LJ/JP1 Rev. A; SEC-HD501LJ(B); 2007.9; P/N: 40141XXXXXXXXX T166S.
If someone has a drive matching those numbers, we may be able to use it! Send an email to info@dataretriever.com.au with 60413 Donor Drive in the subject and either a clear photo of the drive label or a complete listing of all info from the drive’s sticker. If your drive does indeed match and we can use it (it needs to be 100% healthy â€" we can confirm this after receiving it), we’ll swap you a brand new 1TB internal hard drive â€" free upgrade for your trouble! All you have to do is post it in and then once we confirm it is suitable, we’ll mail you your new, bigger hard drive. Thanks for your help.
I'm also offering a set of prints and a free copy of the KinokoFry (http://kinokofry.com) book I'll be able to make if this data gets recovered.
If anyone can help, I appreciate it!
FYI your links are broken.
Fixed, thanks.
The links to your site are still broken. They've got the protocol doubled up (http://http://kinokofry.com).
Sorry I can't help you out with the hard drive (coz I'd really love a free copy of your book! :P).
Edit: This drive (http://cgi.ebay.com/Samsung-HD501LJ-500GB-SATA-T166S-REV-2007-11-/220759310738) might (??) work, but I'm not sure how important that ..uh..date?.. number is (this one's 2007.11 instead of 2007.9).
Haha, what? I swear they were fine. Okay, fixed again and if they're still broken after this, I'll know something's adding a "http://" for no reason.
The links are fine now. Also, I edited my post with something that maybe might just be relevant.
Totally unrelated but DAMN that's a fine looking website! :)
...Gift of Aldora..? ;D
I agree with Khris :D
