Heyo guys, I have a serious problem with my laptop. The keyboard has decided that it doesn't want to do anything anymore and I can't fix it. I've tried everything I can think of; I've looked in the control panel and it says everything's fine, WHEN IT'S NOT! Friggin' Vista.
My laptop is a Compaq Presario V3000.
It was working absolutely fine yesterday, but when I booted it up today it just wouldn't work.
I am getting really angry and sweary over it. Can someone please shed some light on this?
And also, I'm not sure if it's related or not, but each time I log into my laptop using the onscreen keyboard a message pops up saying Windows can't find a byXRjgGv.dll. Help?
Virus.
byXRjgGv.dll...
nobody would name a datalink library with such nonsense unless it's randomly generated filename for a virus backup.
And even less should some shit like this run on startup.
I suggest using some antivirus software. Your mouse still works, right?
If not, there's all kinds of emergency disks and usb solutions to boot computer straight into virus scan.
Also, you could try external USB keyboard, maybe it'll trick the virus?
And there's safe mode... I think. Does it still exist on vista?
typical moronic virus scan...says nothings wrong...
god, this is pissing me off...
Googling "byXRjgGv" only returned two results, one of which was this thread. The other (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/lofiversion/index.php/t171986.html) was a computer-support forum where the user was told after some research that he had a very dangerous virus...:-\
Best of luck in getting it resolved.
Oh deary - sounds not so much like a virus, but more like a Virtumonde trojan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trojan_virtumonde). They're a complete and total pain in the behind - I got one and the only way to get rid of the thing was to do a format and reinstall of my C: drive. >:(
If its really a Vundo Virus you can try "VundoFix" by Atribune. Safe boot and run this little program to delete the trojan. It was the solution I got my computer to run normally.
And if you then get warnings like "Windows cannot find AnYthInG.dll" then search for this in the registry and delete the proper key.
