Ok community I need your help.
As some of you may know, I'm married. As some fewer of you may know my wife is pregnant. The baby is due the coming week or the next.
She's away from me 3 weeks now, and I think that I should get her a good present, or even two. One to compensate that we were away from each other (and from my first son), and the second for the birth of our second one.
WHAT SHOULD I GET HER? :)
Over the years I've known her, I've bought her a lot of presents and I'm running out of ideas. I hate repeating myself. So, in order for you not to tell me something I've allready done or bought: I've bought her: Sunglasses, Hi-Fi, Lingeri (hehe), wrist watch, clothes, a chess (we love chess), nightware, jewells, two rings (expensive ones I may add), shoes. I think that I've covered most areas. And know I'm tottally uninspaired.
Can you help me? Any ideas are welcome (but we are talking about my pregnant wife, ok?). Any price will do really. And be realistic. It's not practical to leave a newborns to his grandmother and leave for Vienna/Venice/whatever...
Thank you. :)
PS. Sorry for the capitalisation in the subject and in the question above, but I'm getting desperate. And I have to get this present in 3 days, because that's when I'm leaving for Greece to meet her. :)
Bufff... I am terrible at gifts... But I've seen some pairs of tiny tiny sport shoes for babies that are so so lovelly! ^_^ They put people tender, and I think they will work with a pregnant woman ever more... at least for not killing you.

This is why I need your help. Thanx Farlander...
I think you should just give her good, good loving. Thats all the world really needs....If she's anything like my gal, she probably wouldn't mind you putting her into labor a little early...
Squinky... ::)
Anyways, when buying presents, I always go down the hobby route. If you both play chess, I'd suggest maybe buying something chess related. Like a book or something. :-\
It's not really a holiday, so I wouldn't really get her something she would use. Something romantic would suit better. Flowers or something. Maybe candy, but I don't know how well candy would go over with a pregnant woman.
It doesn't really matter what it is, just so long as it shows her you love her. That's what you're going for right?
So, I second Squink's idea. 8)
I don't know... The only gifts I made to girls are: a cute stuffed toy (lamb), drawings (not freaky like those in CL) and a song. I'm terrible at choosing gifts.
I'd get some clothes for both of them, that matches, that would be fun, She'd think you were adorable... Then I quote

Flowers or something
Fleur indeed... always good. Though you wouldn't want me to give gifts to your wife? anyway, gota go. Just make her remember you love her

Squinky, I think Nikolas did that the last time round and that's how the current situation came about. ;)

Clearly you're not married ... and if you keep going down that route you may not ever be. :=
I think you need to get her something that makes her feel beautiful. Clothes are definately out for obvious reasons. So the Jewlery thing would be your best bet IMHO. I've never heard any woman complain about having too much jewlery.

Lovin' is like Jello, theres always room for more...
However, no matter how much I make love to my Jello, it will never get pregnant...
How about a birthstone ring or pendant, one stone for you, your wife, and two children. Of course if also plan on taking Squinky's advice you will have to get a couple of empty slots for next time. :)

But jewelry makes women ugly!
A custom made t-shirt, with one of Inkoddi's drawings printed on it.
Oh yeah.

:P
I had to comment on that!
Thanks everybody, keep 'em coming...
A frying pan for her to hit you with during the labour...?
Here's some recent presents I have got my wife, and she REALLY insisits on romantic stuff
* Buy a star named after her: http://www.starregistry.com/ or lots of other places. OK, no astromer will ever call it that but its very romantic.
* Buy her the title of "Lady" http://www.play.com/play247.asp?pa=srmr&page=title&r=GADGitle=181287
* Make a Fimo model of the two of you (see my avatar)
* Make an AGS game featuring the two of you (see The Marvellous Adventures of Princess Marian series)
Don't buy her a ring, as women can swell up all over during pregnancy... some have to get rings cut off to maintain circulation to their fingers!
Is there some food she has not been eating because she's not allowed to during preganancy? Smoked salmon, soft cheese, etc? Maybe you can have it ready for her after the birth!
Everyone I know loves cake, sweets, etc. I'm a good confectionist and I often bake people pimped up cakes for their birthdays/etc. Most people really like it 'cause nowadays most people just buy them at the supermarket.
I have to comment on that also.
Can you imagine a woman with 15 kgr more in her body, wanting to eat cakes? I mean if I try anything like that I'm going for a divorce. ;D
Thanks though...
I'm thinking on terms of more presenst than one or two. I mean the idea with clothes both for the newborn and her mother is rather cool, but also the SSH idea of doing/making/creating something for her. BTW, the fact that you have made 6 (or more?), games for your wife, shows how much you love her. It happened that I found out about them yesterday, while clicking on your signature.

Bill Cosby is rolling in his grave....
Nik, I didn't know your wife was pregnant! Congratulations!
My wife is due to squirt one out in the next few weeks too!
And by-the-by, I've used SSH's star suggestion before. It works like a charm!
"Squirt One Out?"
Damn, I mentioned something about "one of these days, you'll have a bun in the oven" to my fiancee (who was going through a I-wanna-have-a-baby thing) and she smacked the hell out of me.
I think this: why don't you drop all your other products and write her a song... specifically for her... Name it after her, and then present it to her. You are a composer, for the love of Pete....
Well, my wife doesn't speak English, so I can say whatever I want. Right chubby?
(okay, totally kidding there... she'd kill me!)
And great idea with the song thing.
Thank you guys!
Vince, I knew you were married but not that you were expecting a little one. It is strange how these little ones can change your whole life, but always for the best. I already have one. If you need advice for babysitting or toddlering or anything just PM me. And of course trust me. I'm just a random guy you met on the internet ;)
Well I've got to go off-line now. Thanks everybody.
And in a while I'm going to post some pics of the newborn :D
Make a....
...sculpture!
Really. Sculpt her (not pregnant version)
I would rock so much.
Hey congrats, Nikolas. Heres what a quick google search got me...
http://www.beheresoon.com/
Check it out it said something about unique gifts.
My suggestion would be along the lines of a necklace, it will always fit never mind how big or small she (is) :) becomes.
With clothes she might not loose weight or something and will only make her depressed! Carefull a womens feelings, is like a pricless ming vase. If you break it, its best to dissapear! :)
Other than that depending on how creative you are, you can try and make her something nice. I did that a couple of times and brownie points with poems, own created gifts etc... is priceless like that ming vase. Heres an idea ; this is what I did...
Step 1:
I took three cds that I knew my girlfriend liked, then I taped them together to form a 3d plane or a corner of a box.
Step 2:
I covered this with a really kewl blue paper that textured paper that has funky patterns. (It was for the theme I was aiming at.)
Step 3:
I took that funky see though colour paper! cellephane or something.. And used the pink one to cut out a butterfly shape (the wings) I took copper wire and beaded it with pink and see thorugh beads shaped it to the wings and stuck it to it. I added copper wire antenna with beads at the ends.
Step 4 :
I took green cellephane paper stuff and cut out leave shapes (thinking of it should of used ribbon didnt have though) I took pink lace ribbon stuff and twisted it twirled it into a rose shape stuck the ends together. hairpray kept it in tact then I scented it with rose perfume, which you could include in the gift!
Step 5 :
I used see though cellephane paper stuff put her name on it with the glitterglue and then stuck the butterfly to it. I then stuck the rose to the corner of the cd box shape and added the leaves. I took the see through part and stuck it over the box shape. note this was shaped in triable to fit in nicely.
This might confuse you a little... but if your creative you can invision it. This was done with stuff I had in my house, just the cds I bought earlier that day it took me about 4 hours to do. Completely out of my mind with only part idea I had of what I was making.
The END Result!
What happened you want to know, well first my girlfriend thought it was made proffesionaly, I am a banker BTW. And she was totaly in awe. still has the rose and the butterfly and.. well all of it. Show me the love!
Another thing you can try takes about 30 min of shopping and 10 minutes to assemble is... Scented bed spray, may i suggest vinilla. And that see thourgh paper stuff again Her favourite colour may I suggest pink, and blue. And two stuffed teddys. Or whatever. Place the smelly stuff between the stuff teddies (I used brown and white teddy) Also scented. Then all I did is covered them withe the see though paper, Put in middel of paper and take all point to top. use the different color to make a bow. (Like you tie your shoe laces) Always looks good and only made in a couple of minutes! (But they never know that) ;)
But seriously dont get clothes (size issue) my suggestions
*smelly stuff (perfume; bed spray)
*BODY LOTION!
*Something you made yourself (anything women always like it when you spent time on them, its priceless)
*last but not least music dude music, soothes the soul like lotion sooths the body!
Have fun and good luck! once again CONGRATS!
