A few weeks ago, I saw "Star Trek: Nemesis" on a plane fight, and thought it was the best movie ever (and I still do).  Ever since, I've been on a Ster Trek rampage!  So far, besides Nemesis, I've seen "The Rath of Kahn" and "The Search for Spock".  Plus, I rented "Star Trek: The Motion Picture", "First Contact", and "Insurrection".  So, am I anlone or are there any more "Enlightened" out there?  :P

I'm not much of a Star Trek fan, but even with that bias, it's hard to imagine anyone calling "Star Trek: Nemesis" the best movie ever.  I've not seen it, but still... Come on, the best movie ever?  You must be exaggerating.

I really liked it.  I'm not kidding, yet I've only seen 3 and I have 4 or 5 to go, so mabey I'll change my mind.  "The Search for Spock" has to be # 2, partly because I like Spock over everybody else.

Hm...  Nemesis the best movie ever?...

Well to be honest I've not seen it, but I have seen the rest.
You should own a copy of Wrath of Kahn and a copy of Undiscovered Country, the rest you should just wait for a TV to put them on.
Anything vaguely Next Generation-ish should be taken with a pinch of salt.

:-[ ive probably seen ALL the TV ones over the years, does that make me a Trekkie? Deep space 9 sucks tho lol, the films are good in there own right, but as far as si fi go, Star Wars (first 3) and Alien/Aliens gets my vote, Mad Max the first one is my top movie, but i'm a biker and its the best bike orientated film ever made (waits for the "easy rider" mob to linch me)

I think you only really become a 'Trekkie' if you start getting insulted with the term and tell everyone to call you a 'Trekker', or whatever it is.

As long as you don't wear star trek costumes, collect weird star trek stuff, nor atttend your local star trek convention, you're good.  I think the term is now "Trekker".

I like star trek, and I have an extensive knowledge of it from watching so many episodes. but the new stuff is trash, including Nemesis :P

TerranRich

woohoo! ALl right, Quik! I've been a Trekker/Trekkie/whatever since I was 8 or 9 years old (12 years ago), and it all started with The Next Generation. I thought Nemesis was pretty good, not as good as First Contact though. i'm more of a TNG Trekker, so that movie was the best IMHO. If you want to watch Trek movies, try First Contact.

netmonkey: ALL the newer stuff? Including Enterprise? I think they're doing pretty damn good for a prequel show...except for the fact that they f-ed up the timeline in that their first contact with Klingons was supposed to have gone terribly wrong...and it wasn't so bad. And everybody had assumed that Starfleet was formed at the same time as the Federation, but apparently Starfleet was founded sometime between 2140 and 2150 while the Federation is founded in 2161. I think they're doing an okay job at making a prequel series.

Oh...and I bet I could whip your ass in Trek knowledge! ;)

ARGH! Nemesis a good movie???  :o

Nothing personal, but watch First Contact pronto! (And yes, it is a real word)

Skip Insurrection. And forget about Nemesis.

I have also been an active fan of Star Trek for ages, having watches all the episodes & movies and read quite a few novels (I know, they're horrible) and all that stuff...

...have now given up on the franchise with the horrible Berman & Braga butchering going on with that new show and the last movie... trust me, there's lots of better stuff out there than Nemesis.

Or, become like me. Give up this Trekker business and become a "Scaper" instead!

Then you can whine about people having cancelled the greatest Sci-Fi show ever.

Man, how I hate the Sci-Fi channel! I mean, seen the last episode? I was *SO* happy about it, and then those last 20 seconds...

Darn darn darn!!

Channel 9 made a mint selling Farscape around the world, and never showed it genuinely here.
meh.

And Mad Max lags behind Stone, even if you only look at antipodean films.

i have seen stone ;D, good film too, but if i remember right the british goodie goodies desided it was a video nasty and banned it along with texas chain saw massacre, noddy and captian pugwash

Nemises was alright, but it surely wasn't the best Star Trek movie ever. I think it's probably the last Next Generation movie. I loved all the shows, TNG and the Original being my favorite. The only original movies that are good are the ones directed by Leonard Nemoy (sp?). If you really want a great sci-fi show, though, that is by far diffrent that Star Trek, and just as good, if not better, see if you can find Babylon 5 on DVD.

Star Trek VI, The Undiscovered Country is a superb film.

You just can't beat a Shakespeare-quoting, eyepatch-wearing Klingon for sheer entertainment value.

Nemesis was ridiculous, and I don't even wanna talk about it. You'll be fine as long as you like Nemesis, you're not a Trekker/ie.

As I said, I've only seen 3 of them, so far.  I was on a trip yesterday and I was watching the first movie on my Mom's Apple laptop.  Half way throughit, the battery goes dead in the middle of New Mexico!  We have a DVD player in the car, but I can't get enough power to open the disc drive!  So, I spend five hours sitting there!  Another reason why Apple sucks.  On a Windows computer, you could have had enough power to turn it on, eject it, and run for the hills before it explodes.

I read a blurb for The Journey Home, which was enough to convince me not to take anything Star Trek seriously.

That said, it was entertaining.
