Hello all! I'm writing an essay at college about the AGS community (and possibly other freeware game communities). I'm wanting to interview people (by email) about AGS and how they use it, how they feel about the community, etc. I'd like to hear from people who both make games and just play them. I would particually be interested in hearing from female memebers of the AGS community (I know they're in the minority, if someone reads this who knows a female who's into AGS and hasn't read this, could you please pass my details on).
If you wouldn't mind spending a few minutes of your time helping me out, drop me a line at gokristofski@hotmail.co.uk. All contributors will be annonymous, or I can use your handle/nickname, especially if you're a well known memeber of the community.
Thanks for your time!
Chris

Thanks for that, but as I am already familiar with AGS (I've been playing them for a while and even tried making one once before I realsised that I'm lame) it doesn't really tell me much I don't know already. I'm more interested in the community of AGS and how people relate to it. I'm very into the DIY music scene where I live, and I see communities based around freeware software such as AGS would have a similar dynamic to them. But I only know how I feel about it, which is why I want to hear from other people.

Here's the brief, it probably explains it better.

"With explicit and sustained reference to two appropriate methodological approaches addressed in the modual, provide
1. a description
2. an analysis
3. a theoretical explination
4. a critical appraisal
of one (or where appropriate, two) named, tutour approved contemporary case study of socio-cultural expression or concern.
The AGS community being the case study in this case.

I hope that clears things up!

Geez, you guys aren't being very helpful @_@

Okay, I'm female and I've been here going on 2 years... not that long, but long enough, I think. If you want to send me interview questions, PM me and I'll answer them to the best of my ability.

Kinoko IS famous!

And I think the AGS Wiki link was very helpful, and then, pointing out exactly where to go was even more helpful!

The thing that isn't too helpful is when people post "I like fish! Monkey monkey monkey!" in their Wiki profile... Not that anyone has, but alot of them are pretty much equal to that...

(note: I don't have a Wiki profile yet because I like fish, and my motto is "monkey monkey monkey," so it wouldn't be a very helpful entry...)

But he wasn't interested in finding out who was in the community, he wants to interview people! I don't understand what sending him to a website, no matter how awesome said website may be, will do for him when he wants to ask individuals complex (well, you know) questions about the way they personally feel about things.

Sure, I wanna be famous :D

esper

Hmmm, actually, yeah, Nipper, that was the wrong link ANYWAY...

And from that, you can discover that Becky, DragonRose, half of LJUBI, and possibly Pesty, are girls, and then proceed to communicate with them. Also, by using the "Post Your Picture Here" thread, you can find a couple more... The Ivy, for example, is a girl, and a relatively... hell, forget relatively... a VERY pretty one. Kinoko, as she already stated, is also a girl. I am not. However, as a being that transcends space and time, my gender doesn't really matter.

When I want to find myself from the wiki i just open "most popular pages" and go from there.

Hey, baby. What's a girl like you doing in a place like this? Can I take you for a trip in my TARDIS?

Wow, that made me blush.Ã,  I like how this is totally irrelevant to the actual topic, but you decided to include it anyway.Ã,  Heh, thanks?Ã,  :-,

Anyway, as per the actual point of this thread, I'd be happy to answer some questions.Ã,  I use AGS because it's fun and different, adventure games make my friends and I nostalgic, and I have younger siblings who love playing them.Ã,  I'm just wrapping up my first game, a medium-length adventure called "Spooks," and it's been a real exercise in creativity.Ã,  Ã,

Plus, you know, there's the coolness factor at parties when you explain to people that you like computer games.Ã,  No, not playing them...making them. :)
