Hello!
I'm currently using midi maker for my MIDI's and I need a tip from someone who has been working with MIDI's longer than me. Everytime I'm trying to make a background MIDI, it gets kind of "depressive/sad/seriously negative/scary". I don't know how to say this in english, but everything turns out in "MOLL". I need it to be "DUR". Slow, but happy. So, I was wondering if someone knows what instruments that's best to use for this? Everytime I try the flute, trombone, tuba, trompet it fits more like background music for Maniac Mansion 1 or something. I've noticed that the high hat fits nice, but it gets boring, and I need to add some more. Which only get it in "MOLL".
To make it short: What instruments is best if I want to have a happy, yet slow background tune?
Thanks!
MOLL = minor
DUR = major
Maybe it's the chords you are using, for example:

But I don't know...Ã, Ã, could you post your midi here?
BTW: this is maybe for critics longue.
Yeah, I wasn't too sure about that... Since I don't got anything for you to qritize, just a question..
I can see if I can post something later on.
Here is soemthing I made quick just to check if it went any better:

It did, but I think the flute is a little bit too "poweful", and takes alot of attention. Know any other instruments that would fit better?
Now this is really getting like a CL topic. Maybe move?
Hmmm, sounds okay, but maybe a little bland with just flute and hi-hat. It shouldn't really matter what instruments you use, but how you use them, as Damien posted.
Personally I think some strings underneath would be quite nice - just long, slow chords that don't move or jump around very much.
I'll do an edit later, when I'm not running late to get to uni :P
Yeah, I know it's kind of flat, but I was a hurry-mix. Tough, I'd love to hear your edit.
here (http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/MIDI01.mid) is my quick edit. I stress quick.
I hope it plays back okay for you guys. In my music program, the flute sounds fine - as soon as I play it normally as a midi, it plays like it's a trumpet?! It shouldn't be a problem for you, but if it is, use your imagination - pretend it's flute-like.
I too heard trumpet playing in Hill Billy's original tune and was confused when you guys were talking about flutes.
Your edit is excellent Pete! Nice job!
I've just created one that I find excellent. Thanks for the help!
