I know I haven't been around in a while, so i feel bad asking for help, but it's coming down to the wire...

I've entered a contest sponsored by New American Dream, an environmental organization. The person who gets the most people to pledge to ditch their junk mail will win a Clutterbusters' home make over, and second place is a new dishwasher. I'm in 5th place right now, and with your help, I can win!

All it takes is your name and email address, and you'll get quick instructions on how to rid yourself of junk mail.  Just click here .  And yes, if you sign up with this link, it's for "Mandie" who is my partner.  It's actually a really helpful program, and a smart campaign.  Plus, my house is overflowing with junk and dirty dishes.

The less junk and dirty dishes I have, the more games I can make!  If I win, I totally promise to release a game in the next month.  Seriously. But it won't be Square John Boy. :'(

Thanks,

Logan

And let me guess, they will be using this e-mail address to send junk e-mail to?

Besides, I don't get junk mail, period. My country has laws against that.

No, they don't send you junk mail.  They initially just send you handy tips to get rid of junkmail, and then one email a month telling you about their latest earth-saving contest.

If you don't want to sign up for this reason though, I fully understand.

Cheers,

Logan

If they would consider my loan bills as junk I would gladly help you with this, but alas, I doubt they would ;(.

Hehe,  I think it's funny that a environmental group hell bent on saving the planet is giving away such an environmentally unfriendly dishwasher.   Wash them by hand and think of all the green house gasses you have eliminated by not using the fossil fuels needed to run a dishwasher.

How is this an un-earth friendly dishwasher?  From these features i'd say it's very earth friendly by the way dishwashers go.

And from this German study, modern eco-friendly dishwashers like the one above, when full, use half the energy and one-sixth of the water.

And Prog, it's just a pledge...they won't hunt you down if you don't do it.  But I will if you don't help a brother out!

You say it like it is a fact. Unfortunately, not enough is known about this, so there is little to no actual facts about these things at the moment, but do you really think that all the crap we plunge into the atmosphere doesn't affect the climate at all?

Of course our crap is dangerous. But the real fact is that our crap dissipates when it reaches the atmosphere.

Also its a fact that it has been hotter than this during the prehistoric. No facts my ass.

I am very Earth non-friendly.  I use paper plates and plastic silverware that end up in my garbage and then a landfill.

Plus, I don't recycle as much as I should.

I wish i didn't, but i hate washing dishes...but good luck, and i hope you get that dishwasher.

There's NO WAY I'm putting my spam email address (like we ALL have) on this list to help a fellow AGSer win something he cares about ... simply no WAY!!

Anarcho ... I'm shocked!!  How dare you ask your online friends to help you out in such a selfish way.  Do you have any idea the kind of imposition this is???  I would actually have to take 20 seconds of time to enter my spam email address into a form!

Forget it.  Maybe you should leave AGS altogether?

Anarcho

You're absolutely right Darth. Thanks for teaching me this valuable lesson! I'm going to go outside and burn down a forest right now.  Then I'll go do some dishes for three hours.

- I don't give a crap about saving earth. Especially while holding hands with people who give out dishwashers in exchange for spam :D
- I don't mind another bit of spam, actually. It happens this way or another. E-mail addresses are free.
- But erasing spam takes time. Time *I* could spend on making a game. And since you already got popular title under your name and I don't, click will be not done.
- "New American dream"? "Carbon conscious consumer"? Everybody knows that americans are nothing but earth-friendly, with these big, rusted, polluting cars with big dirty engines and heavy plastics usage everywhere. If I saw this page before your thread, I'd see it as an ironic joke.

In conclusion, the time you find for such senseless "earth saving" contests and spamming here at AGSforums could also been used productively.

For example, doing games.
Or dishes.

The funny thing is that america the most environmentally friendly country. Every other country fail to do anything to help the earth. If we had someone to blame, Id say blame Russia, Germany, Britain, China, Australia.

EDIT: Britain is doing the same thing america is doing, so they aren't the worst.

EDIT 2: I lost a lot of faith in you Anarcho. It seems your being forsfed what someone else believes instead of look at the big picture and look at the world (outside america) ::)

Anarcho

Um, what exactly am I being force-fed?  Can you explain what the hell you're talking about, because it's unclear to me.  I'd love to know what this big picture is that you're talking about...

MrColossal

Alright everyone, calm down. Anarcho has not gone into any detail of his global warming philosophy so how can you possibly make assumptions like that Brad. If you're going to rant about something like this at least provide sources for people to debate the points on, please.

I still think that starting a donation would resulted money for at least 3 dishwashers. As well as selling some extras, like concept art of "Emily Enough" game or something like that.

Aggressive sign-up-for-spam campaigns won't either sound or work very well.

Please do get your facts straight, because you have it almost precisely backwards. For instance, there are environmental plans like the global Kyoto Protocol, and America, under pressure of its oil industry, is notable for refusing to sign that.
