Hi all. I've came to the role quite accidentally, but now I want to be good at it. Though I have some of my ideas, I'd like to hear a man. ;) So, how would you envision a slightly higher-class one? (take into account that leather is over my budget and that my figure is 41-29-42 and I'd rather not show my thighs.) Thank you everybody.
(Why I am asking here: I've been around some time, playing games and reading the forums and I think you could give me a good advice)
How much do you charge?
I suggest you watch From Hell with Johnny Depp and Heather Graham.
I'd say a corsette(sp?) and a multi-layered skirt is a good start (red and black), also laces.
Higher class prostitute?
Inara (sp) from Firefly?
How does something like this take your fancy?

Thanks for serving *all* my fetishes in one tight package. Ahem.
If you want it simple: Frilly skirt, bodice, heeled boots? Something like that?

The term is companion :P
Eggie: Lol! :D That picture is outrageous! Made me laugh...
You are going to need a PIMP, so he can HO you out. :)
Plus, you need those boots that ride up to your thighs.

Depends on what area/timezone the LARPing involves, but my first thought would be to check Alex Kingston in Moll Flanders, for bodice ripping era whoring. She was mostly selling herself to noblemen and such.
I'd suggest ebay for cost effectiveness, and see if you can get ex-costume department stuff from theatres and such.
Or haberdasheries if you're willing to make/customise the clothes.
What's a LARP?

"What's a LARP"? *hisses and crawls back into the shadows*
You can borrow a bit of fashion from swashbuckling movies such as Cutthroat Island and PotC. Other inspiration can be gathered from le Pacte des Loups. Your biggest problem is still your finances. Leather might be steep in cost, but fabric in appropriate fashion is not exactly cheap either. I wise idea is to start of with an old second hand dress and modify it. To give an appearance of richer clientel, you could always work with your hair rather than clothing - a complex hairstyle speaks of wealth.
@Eggie: That's Björk, no? She's still hot ;D

Perhaps something like the one on the left? Seems like you haven't watched nearly enough of the original Star Trek series. ;D
Haha. I know what LARP-ing is. I just find the concept overly odd and somewhat creepy.
But since it's not just dressing up, it's acting out the fantasy whatever, couldn't that make a fantasy hooker somewhat of a bad character to have. I mean what if one of the other characters pays you for a service in fantasy money. Or trades you a donkey for a service. The only problem is you only get the back half of the donkey cause the head and front legs ran away. You get the ass of the ass. And it is Live Action Role Play. He pays you for the service, does that not oblige you to 'act out' the role play of being a Prostitute being paid for sex?
That's actually a good point.
Do prostitutes still get to fight monsters with weapons and that?
Before you answer, note that gonorrhoea doesn't count as a weapon.
Honestly with the socially repressed nature of some roleplayers it sounds like things could get a bit DICEy (ah ha ha... dice... you see... dice... ah ha ha)

I like how you felt you needed to point out which character you were refering to. ;D

When I was your age it wouldn't have been a consideration... ;D
Not many LARPers ever get to fight dragons. Playing drunk on the other hand... oh boy...
On an assorted note, prostitutes are common in fantasy settings, but they usually hand out back rubs. Or you enter the tent/cottage and make funny noises while trying hard to maintain a straight face. It's all show and very little method acting I'm afraid. In fact, sex is usually avoided as more than a comedic subject, since it's so close to your own being. Brutal violence has been stylized since our early childhood through games and movies, but sex leaves few unaffected whichever the form.
But then there's more specialized LARPs that work with relationships and drama rather than an epic fantasy, and sex is as important in that as it is in real life. It's not uncommon to use safe words, as in BDSM. Come to think of it, BDSM is very much like LARPing - but LARPing is not very much like BDSM :=
