Hey i'm building my first pc and i just wanted to check that ive got this right before i waste money. I've bought a barebones system with a mother board. On the side of the box it says "Support amd socket 754 cpu". So am i right in thinking that this processor would work in my system?

If the motherboard says so then probably yes. But we'll need the exact model of the motherboard for a verified answer.

Yeah this CPU will work in this motherboard.
Just a recommendation though - Sempron is a weak processor series, if you're gonna go with AMD go with an Athlon proccessor. For office use Sempron is fine but you're gonna run any heavy programs or games performance will not be so good.
