Title: Help with graphics
Post by: on Tue 13/04/2004 02:46:09
Okay, so i'm looking for a program in which, I can produce the graphics used in the orig. Lucasarts game (Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis etc.) that I can transfer over to AGS.  I need it for backround and for character!!!! :'(

I'm something of a noob myself, but couldn't you go into the game,  press Print Screen (it's near F12) and then Paste into Pain or Photoshop?

1. This is not a technical question, but I will answer it anyway...

2. Okay, do you want to know how they made those graphics? They hand-drew the graphics, scanned them in, then drew them over the sketches. You can use layers (dunno if they had them back then) to do this without erasing the background. Any program with layers will do. The Gimp is free. Paint Shop Pro is not. Photoshop is MOST DEFINITELY not.  :o

Basically, use any paint program you want.

And now, this will be moved. Please observe forum rules.

I like you because your name is Tim.

Okay, but seriously, if you want that style of graphics, I agree you shouldn't use Photoshop. Go back to basics. I suggest getting your hands on Deluxe Paint (Crafty wording there), which is one of the programs they used to make the old MI graphics and such. I think LucasArts used a lot of inhouse packages as well, but I am not entirely sure.

The thing is, the backgrounds for FoA and MI2 were actually hand painted and scanned in, and only borders and such were touched up on the computers. So if you really want an authentic FoA look, I suggest Guashe and a couple of good brushes....

EDIT: Perhaps you mean you want to use the graphics from the games? If so, I suggest you google Scumm Revisited or some such program... although usually using graphics from an already existing game is a no-no... But hey, whatever floats your boat.

I never knew Terran was a moderator...
