Anyone seen those home video clip shows?
You've Been Framed
Funniest Hom Videos etc.
Well
I think we should do our own, it could be you doing some Jackass, or just someone you know being stupid.
I think its a pretty good idea, but I wanted to know what you guys all thought. It'd be a good chance to get to know the forum members better as well.
might be quite a problem finding somwhere to host these video's.
I hate Jackass with every natural and artificial fibre of my being. Please think about the public -_- Not to mention ambulance officers who have better things to do than look after people who bring this sort of thing on themselves.
I, too, despise Jackass.Ã, Let's all go out and endanger these people around us, who we obviously don't give a shit about, and then laugh about it.Ã, We've got no ambition in life other than to be beer drinking, fart lighting, masicists!!Ã, Yay!!!
I can't stand [worst thing I've ever seen] Da Ali G Show (on HBO) for much the same reason.Ã, Being stupid (like that) shouldn't be considered comedy ... it's weak.Ã, And all these critics say, "Shockingly Original!"Ã, Can somebody please tell me what's so original about it?
Now what about if people took your idea and did it within AGS?Ã, Created a cutscene movie of adventure game characters doing stuff like this ... maybe that could be funny?Ã, And less of a problem for hosting as the files sizes would be considerably smaller.
Maybe a new competition?Ã, I had an idea like this (sort of) for a competition where it would be a monthly thing (like MAGS) but the task would be to re-create a movie scene.Ã, It would all be cut-scenes (no playing) just a watchable thing.
Your idea could work something like that, no?
Oh, come on Darth. You mean you don't like drinking beer or farting? But, the rest of your post is true. Jackass is retarded,
and it isn't funny to see steve-o's ass being tortured or whatever. The Ali G Show is so fuckin(excuse me) retarded, I can't believe anyone watches it!
Jackass ranks high on the list of the things I hate, closely followed by rap music, boy bands, and ugly strippers.
I quite enjoyed Jackass.
"Simple things amuse me", to quote Mods.
Still, trying to imitate it sounds like a stupid idea. Not to say infeasible.
Well, Jackass is one of my favourites. I just like them hurting themselves. Somethings are funny as hell :D
Also, It's good to hear I'm not the only one who hates rap and boy bands ;)
I could get a clip of me crashing with a skateboard on a 8 stair (if I crash ;)). That would look kinda like Jackass. I think this video thing is a pretty good idea!
I'll join the club of dislikeing Jackass, rap and boy bands... but to me the home vidoe idea sounds somewhat useable, with a little trimming mabye...

Am I the only one that actually likes ugly strippers?
I think i follow the same line as Darth. TV shows such as 'Da Ali G show' which are blatently trying to be funny when they're not just get on my god damn nerves. Its not such a problem for me with jackass as i mainly watch it for the skating, but i can still see the point being expressed.
This strong opinion has stuck with my through my whole life aswell, i can remember thinking these kind of thoughs when watching such programs as Chuckle brothers. I just could never understand why they were so damn stupid...
Then i found out about the wonders of money >:D
i agree. lets go and watch repeats of the Monkees and fold our arms.
Jackass and da Ali g show suck, but stuff like this has to happen before somebody hits on a succesfull new way of making people laugh, otherwise we will be stuck watching friends clones forever.

[Dramatic]NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo....[/Dramatic]
It could be some kind of Candid Camera competition where AGS'ers do things.... like they do in Candid Camera.

No, we wouldn't, because Friends was never funny in the first place either. We'd be stuck watching really successfully funny shows like Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, The Late Show, Blackadder, Red Dwarf, The Simpsons, Futurama and... man, this sounds great! Yes! Screw new comedy, I have all I ever need right here.
QuoteMonty Python, Fawlty Towers, The Late Show, Blackadder, Red Dwarf, The Simpsons, Futurama
Amen, sister!
However, I think Ali G has made some funny stuff as well, like when he did that reportage about the new weapon laws in USA.
Also, his alter-ego, that kazachtstanian journalist whatever-his-name-is, is hilarious imo.
But yeah, the old school still rules.
I agree about that foreign journalist character ^_^ He's usually hilarious. I liked the show when it first started, especially the segments where he conducted "interviews" with very serious people. Not because of what was happening, but he just came out with some hilarious lines. These days, I think the show has gone downhill. I haven't seen it in... well, I can't remember how long the show has been out, but it feels like years. It was never the concept I found funny (just some dick pretending to be a .. whatever that is... isn't funny), but there -were- some good moments that came out of it in the beginning.
Borat owns, even though I've never seen the show. (http://homepage.mac.com/njenson/movies/borat.html)
Jack Ass is ok, fun to watch with your mate, but anyone that tries to copy it is just.... yeah
Ali G was depressingly huge here in the UK a few years back, though the mania seems to be pretty much over now.
The thing is, the character had already pretty much worn out it's potential by the time he got his own series (it started out as short five min segments which were the highlights of a truely miserable program called the 11 O'Clock show). Originally the focus was almost entirely on the interviews, and it really worked pretty well for a while.
Once he became a household name the whole politician interview thing inevitably lost it's edge, and the whole thing just got more and more tired, stupid and lame, and morons around the country kept on spitting out the catchphrases for so long that after a while I just wanted to snap the collective neck of the entire British population.
And I have to say it's a little depressing to me that Ali G is fairly well known around the world now, whereas practically no-one outside the UK ever gets the opportunity to see The Day Today, Brass Eye, I'm Alan Partridge and other phenomenal UK comedy shows. But I suppose the moderate worldwide success of the Office was a pretty positive thing, though I can't say I'm in love with it.
One of my nephews friends appeared on national news when he clipped his legs on the side of a pool after jumping from the roof of a hotel.
My nephew was telling me about it on instant messenger, and tried to defend 'Jackass' with all his heart- saying that the show shouldn't be blamed. His argument was simply that his friend attempted to jump incorrectly.
Last night some teenagers screened a short film of themselves riding on the top of a suburban speeding down a dirt road at 40 mph. And they would jump off the tailgate into a stack of trashcans while going 20 mph.
I don't view these things very cool.
Your nephews friend, and those teenagers, are fucking stupid.
Alan Partridge is hilarious.
I hate c-rap more than jackass, but not much more. Why not make a parody adventure instead that pokes fun at jackass, c-rap and boy bands all at once! You could copy maniac mansion's new kid option to switch between Steve-o, Snoop Dogg and Nick from the Backdoor Boys as they try to escape an insane madman bent on their destruction.

I'll second that. Bring on the patridge.
I love Alan Partridge
I believe that the Jackass show is quite a good attempt at pointing to the masses a possible solution to the problem of overpopulation.
As I hate crowd in public swimming pools (much like Ortega y Gaset, who wrote a whole book because he couldn't find an unoccupied place on a beach), it works for my benefit in a way.
Watching AGS characters doing Jackass might be some good entertainment - I'd certainly take a look at Jake McUrk lightning his farts or Pib riding bareassed on a saw. Maybe we should make it a new competition monthly kind of thingy?
Oi, now we blame Jackass for people hurting themselves?
Like some sort of epidemic?
No sir, stupid people will always manage to harm themselves. Pick any olympic sport and you'll see a much higher rate of life-lasting injuries.
I dunno, I really enjoyed watching Mods' "Express Delivery Service" movie.
Hmmm... I haven't seen that one, where can I get a copy of it. The local video shop did not have the title. The closest they had was an erotic french film, which had to do.
