Post by: Goldfish on Thu 21/01/2010 04:42:24
Are Himalaya (Al Emmo) still around? I joined their forums but the crickets are chirping.

As far as I know they were starting a new game a few months ago... No idea from thereon what happened. Certainly their forums are not exactly alive, and especially with 1 game released (commercial), there wouldn't be too much traffic I reckon.

Do they post here? Are they still part of the community here? Or have they done a Harg or what?

Erpy (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?action=profile;u=331) used to post their stuff, you could try PM'ing him. He has been active here last in November.

Himalaya has a Twitter account they update quite often: http://twitter.com/himalayastudios

They seem to be preparing something in the vein of Quest of Glory (Adventure + RPG) now.

Cool, as long as they're still alive. :)

Quote from Brit:

"we will definitely be revealing more over the coming months, but still want to keep some details under wraps.  I can tell you though, that this game will appeal to a wider range of fans, as we took into account what the majority of our fans have been asking for, and have catered our game to these tastes.  This game will be more similar to the "Quest for Glory" or "King's Quest" series, being a fantasy style game taking place in a psuedo-medieval setting.  You can play four different classes of characters, too.  We're aiming for higher resolution and detailed 2D animations this time.  The backgrounds are going to be a real treat, too."

Yes they are quite alive.  I should know since I talk to Chris (one of the owners) every week!

Hello there! Yes, we are still around, and as ProgZmax has stated, quite alive at the moment.  You should come and start up some conversation on the forum, and bring some friends--then it won't be so quiet :)  We're just very hard at work at the moment, hence the crickets chirping.  We often put so many hours into our work, that we seem to disappear.  This can be good for development, but less interesting for those waiting for our games--but we can really use all the support we can get during this time, so we'd love to see you around the forum.

As mentioned, we try to post Twitter updates, and we're going to try to post more blog updates in the future, as well as releasing more information on the game.  So please do continue checking the site--it's inevitable that the time will come to release some goods to those who have been patiently waiting.  Also, I have a personal FaceBook page which I try to update with little snippets of info from daily life, which often includes game dev updates.  So feel free to join me there as well.  Links to all these social networking sites are located at the official site: http://www.himalayastudios.com

Thanks for checking in:)

Brit

Cool!

I really liked El Ammo and I thought it would be sad if the makers had faded out. Looking forward to the next release.

Hey, I mean it. It came out in a real dead space, and now although there's definitely beginning to be a lot more around, and the mobile apps etc., it was still great at the time and just refreshing to see the confidence on display. :)

More power to you. And I will sincerely try and post on your forums ASAP and frequently. :)

I'll add you on the blog roll on Inherited Tigers too. For what THAT's worth. oO
