Hi! My older brother wants to be a dick so he set up a "idea filter" on my computer that parses a page and shuts off the browser if it doesn't like the page. It's really annoying because the filter is really shitty and will glitch up alot. Any help on how to bypass this thing would be appreciated since I couldn't even read anything from the hints section on this forum.
It's your computer, but you let your brother install some strange "filter" on it?
Put a beat-down on your brother for installing crapp on your 'puter ;) , then ummm, can't you un-install it (the filter I mean)?
Or if you need to absolutely have the filter for some reason, how about installing an alternate web-browser that doesn't use it?

If I beat him up I probably would get kicked out of the house because my parents favor him too much. I have the web browsers firefox and opera installed but apparently he has the filter on both of them. He got on my computer when I wasn't looking btw.
Ask him nicely to take it off?
Otherwise remove his HD and tell him it got "filtered" in the bin? .^^
Just press Ctrl+Alt+Del (http://www.ctrlaltdel-online.com/) and start closing crap out until you find it. Of course you should be careful of anything used by the SYSTEM, although any decent firewall would have at least one SYSTEM process...
Not sure it will work because it depends on the filter...but if it's just a software-based filter then it should work.
You could also try starting your computer in safe-mode...then the filter probably won't get loaded...
maybe restoring to an earlier point?
or uninstalling both opera and firefox?
Isn't it a plug-in on firefox?
Aren't you afraid the filter will see your pleas of help and take revenge?!
If asking him nicely doesn't help, why not ask your parents? I mean, they should have more say over what you can view than your brother does. If the hints/tips section on AGS is the main thing you're having problems with, show your parents these forums and they'll see there's nothing objectionable on them (everyone, be on your best behaviour! ;))
Here's how it went, I was about kick his ass when my mom told me she would call the police if I punched him even though he's 19 and I'm 15. So what I did is I blocked the hallway that leads to his room until my dad came to him and told him to remove the internet blocker (my dad doesn't like him). Unfortuantly, I must've shut off part of the blocker when shutting off random crap and my brother wouldn't stick around for me to restart the computer so I'll have to wait five days until he comes back from camp before I can get it removed. Apparently, the blocker turns on start up so is there any way to turn off programs that start when the computer starts up?
He's 19 and he's at camp?! Wouldn't be boot camp, would it :D? Sure sounds like it.
Select the "Run" option on the startup button. Type in "msconfig" (without the quotation marks) and select the "startup" tab. Scroll down until you find the offending program.
Hope that helps.

p.s. Of course, be careful what you uncheck off that list! Just don't go clicking things unless you're certain what they are!

Exactly what I was about to suggest. If anywhere this is where you'd most likely find the filter.
P.S. What sad times these are when you can't even beat up on your
older brother... :P
Your family sounds peculiar. You BLOCKED a hallway, perhaps not the best solution? I am not here to judge you, but wow. ALso, I doubt your mum would call the police, since they would tell her to leave them alone.
So, it seems your problem is solved then?
