How to get on in game making

A warm hearty greeting to all agsers
    Ive been about for a bit, in and out of the forums and I have been trying to put a game together ive had loads of ideas and put lots of time into my tiny creations, (when i say tiny i mean miniscule)
Trouble is I have a job which has scattered shifts eg 8:30 am - 10:30pm   and then 10am - 5pm the next day and this puts a massive pause on my projects and so here lies my question,

Does having a job affect you and your creations ? 
Do you find it hard to get going and if so how do you combat it..

Im dying to get going but i find that i can only do this alone as my scattered shifts will only hinder team work.

Any ideas anyone ???

Personally... you avoid the forums.. haha
I've been on here every day since I started with AGS.  It's the only thing other than work, at the moment, that puts a halt on my production.  Especially those horribly tempting challenges.  I find I make more images for the AGS forums rather than for my game.

I do find that my production has slowed - actually, ground to a halt - since I started working. It's really bad. :( Teamwork is actually a good way to go, because if you have a good team they can work on the game while you're away.

I am experiencing a period of non-creativeness. It's really funny, actually. Your brain just can't seem to get in gear, regardless of any attempts to kickstart it with cocaine/sex/caffeine (minus the cocaine and sex).

It'll pass.

I'm currently feeling creative for a change... it probably won't last, but I'm going to try and keep the momentum going as much as I can to avoid it turning into a chore, because I find when that happens is when productivity starts to dwindle.

Well, yeah. Due to working full-time for an indie games company I've actually had to take a 3 year break from my AGS projects to work on our commercial game. Luckily it seems I'll have some spare time now to work on my own stuff till the next big project pops up...

My day starts at 4 in the morning and ends sometime 6 in the evening; I still like to put at least half an hour of gameworks into it... weekends are best, but I must admit that since I started school again, I work with some more focus.

I find it, that the more time I have, the less time I have actually. Being unemployed, kind of, and studying for tests is not really something that you do actively 24/7. Now that I'm not at school anymore, I spend long hours staring at the wall or the screen or anything that isn't moving. And to start something is only achieved through a huge effort. I wish I had a job or a school/uni to go to, I'd get a lot more done than now.
