You see, I'm thinking about making a webpage to "promote" my games and other crap, but I'm not sure if I should...What do you think?

rodekill

You should.
Make sure you put screenshots, or no one will ever download your stuff.

You know...I would probably forget and the download part lol...any ideas for my page?  Also do you know where I can get some good Webpage publishing Software...I've got some on my laptop but want to get some newer software for my desktop

Gilbert

Notepad...

No kidding here, I made my pages with it. o_O

00jon00

I've used notepad, but heres the problem...My sister kind of got rid of it and I can't find a download for it...know where I can get it again?

Gilbert

It's in the window$ installation disk (if there's one).

HillBilly

Same thing happend to me, and I just typed "download notepad" in google.

Mr Jake

Windows deleted notepad for me, so Im stuck using wordpad for webpages  ;D

Thanks guys...I got it off of my xp disc...thanks again
and for the software (publishing stuff) I found some freeware stuff that does what I want it to do

00jon00

ok, I can use notepad to make the page but I need some software that publishes it on the internet for others to see...I've got some on my laptop but its out dated and I want some newer stuff.  The only thing I've been able to find is either pay for domain name or use IP address....???

Mr Jake

domain name doesnt normally give you webhosting.....

you need to find a free webhoster such as freewebs, lycos, Geocities etc. etc. etc.

00jon00

K, here's the thing..Geocities, Angelfire, etc all limit you unless you pay so much a month...My laptop's got software on it that publishes webpages so that anybody on the web can view it...and its free...problem is, that programs really out dated and is have'n issues lol...it actually came with windows 95, but I kept it when I installed XP...its just not working on xp worth a crap..I was hoping to find something like it

00jon00

8)Well, I found updated publishing software..well actually a friend just gave me a disc for it...thanks for the help guys

00jon00

K, one last post lol..her webhosting program sucks..I'll just use FreeWebs. My page shouldn't be too big

Ishmael

I got webspace with a computer magazine I ordered... pages made with notepad, free to steal page layout ideas, but nothing else... See page here, I'd say if you don't want ads and anything, it be freewebs, but the downside of FW is a very slow download speed.

Search for an FTP prog called WS_FTP LE or something... I have a 95 version on this computer, gots winme, but it works fine. The publishing wizard thingy that used to come with IE is good, but offers no free webspace anyhow. It's an automatic FTP program... I think version 4 of IE was the last that had it.
I used to make games but then I took an IRC in the knee.

Please don't double (or tripple) post, use the modify key.

00jon00

yeah sorry about that 8)

rodekill

I used this to code my pages.
It's pretty much Notepad, but it uses colours to separate html thingies.
