How well do you remember the games you made?

Squinky

I was poking around today, thinking of starting up another Pirate Fry game, or finishing Stan and Sancho (which is almost done, I just don't really dig it anymore, or have the same amount of time or ability with ags as I used to), When I realized that I don't really remember how my games ended, or a good deal of things about them.

Anybody else have this problem or am I just goofy?

Helm

Sure, the older ones. I don't even know the Helm that made them very well.

I feel your pain (or lack of memory), Squinky. Ã, Sometimes I have to go back and play through earlier games to make sure I'm not omitting any details for sequels.

It's a common feeling to play through a game you made long ago and think, "Wow, I did that?"

Ghost

I remember all the games I've made, and write them a christmas card or at least a kind note on their birthday.

No, seriously, the funny thing is that I remember my first games very well, mostly because they were terrible. Each time I launch AGS I think of the first adventure I made with - wait for it- Klik&Play. It was so bad. And I fondly remember the first game I ever made in DIV- a puzzle game where you matched elements to create chain reactions. It was tough, hard work and I was very proud of it for a while, but today I think it was badly coded and a bit confusing.

I can still remember ALL the test games I made in AGS. My best one was that "Björn's GUI Test Game", were I tried to make a new user interface. I can remember its ending, too, and believe, I'd rather not.

I think we all remember the games we spent most time learning and trying things out. There's a moral to that, but I don't bother Ã, ;)

I just played one of my first games yesterday. Pedestrian In Danger. A GameMaker game I made about 3 or 4 years ago.
I was annoyed. The game was so lame...
It was entartaining; but the controls and the gameplay were too hard that it was too easy to give up. But it also created addiction once the control system is used to.

Well, there are also some 'monsters I created' like Escape From The Zombie City, Plane Numbered 13; I don't want to remember them.
Games are art!

Games with 3 rooms, one character and no storyline don't count, Visy...

:P

Radiant

I actually replay some of my older creations now and then. Considering I've been coding since I was twelve, some of them are quite funny in a haphazard way.

Babar

I actually vaguely remember that Global 1 in my is something to do with time travelling. But only because I thought about it right now.

I can't really replay my old games/programs unless I'm showing them to someone, but I haven't reached the point of hating them yet. Except one. BUT NO ONE KNOWS WHERE IT IS! Mwahahahahaha!

Now, with his very own game: Alien Time Zone

Well, I remember almost everything I ever did too, but I try not to regret anything.

Now, back to the thread. I remeber very well (not completely) "The Mystery of the art school", sue to the fact that it was the first game I got finished. I'm very proud about it.

Erenan

I can still remember some of the crappy text games I made on my dad's C64 when I was in elementary school.
