I am planning to create an inventory objects collection.
What would be a good size for the inv items?  35x35 standard?
What items would be the most wanted?  Tools, toys, fruit, make suggestions.
Maybe objects would be wanted to.  Furniture, machines, computers, make suggestions.
I like making them and plan to put my games aside for the time being.

I'd like a golden grenade. And a rabbit with red eyes, please.

Now, with his very own game: Alien Time Zone

Tools: Pickaxe, shovel, axe, hoe and a sword, in wooden, stone, iron, golden and diamond variants.

This is a really good idea. Krysis posted something similar in the contribution thread.

35x35 might be too big (you want to make sure it can be used in all resolutions).
So 20x20 or 25x25 sounds like a good standard... or maybe 30x30.

And starting with common items is a good move (variation of keys, books, a wallet, that sort of thing).

But what about perspective and stuff? You can make inventory items but what about them when they're placed in the scene? I guess at 320 it's not that important but any bigger and the icon will have to be adapted...I guess for non-artist it's better than nothing though.

I think, all those items, you need in a lot of games are interesting for beginners and/or lazy creators  ;)
like:
duct tape, screwdriver, rope, wallet, coins, money, diff. keys and ID-card, batteries, wire(s), magnet, nail(s), knife, scissors, ...

You may get further inspiration when thinking about different themes/settings (locations, ages) in adventure games: things needed in a sci-fi game (different keycards, radio devices, sci-fi tools, laser weapons, parts of all of that to be combined in the game, a pet alien :=), a medieval/fantasy game (sword, pitchfork, goblet, gems, magical rings, ...), a game with pirates/islands, a steampunk world, in the desert, in a hospital, in an office, in the average household, in Stone Age...

Good suggestions.
But just to be clear, I am not doing hand drawn items.  Photo items.  I suppose I could cartoonize some items.
That might look interesting.
I will have to check that out and see how it looks.

I need more input.
What type of file do people use?
Png, jpg, gif?
I use all png files, but whatever most people use?
Any other info I need to know and haven't mentioned, let me know that to.
