:'( :'( :'(An earlier post asked if the ags source code was safe...It's not, I'm able to freely open the ags source code using a Visual C++, I can edit and delete...I won't because poor CJ slaved to make us happy, and I wouldn't do that.  I just thought that I would inform my fellow agsers that in order to access the code I just have to right click on ags, then click Visual C++.    :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Mr Jake

shouldn't you inform CJ???? Not all of us

anyway, its probably not as easy as it seems

Its sad...Using Visual C++ I can actually change any thing on AGS-won't, but can-CJ needs to know..unfortuanatly, it is rather easy

Gilbert

Why are you posting here then? Are you telling us a way to hack AGS (I don't care as I don't have M$VC and am not interested in hacking it, moreover it's of a user's own concious mind to determine whether he should have done something).

If you wanted to warn CJ of this you may just drop him a private message.

Moreover, you can just reply to that old thread without starting a new one.

Mr Jake

Thats the point I was trying to make, you should of just PMed CJ

scotch

Or he should have realised that CJ isn't that stupid.
There is no way you got the source back with VisualC++
Perhaps you got what you thought was the source...

00jon00

Trust me, it's the source code...I thought that at first too

Sweet! I'll start implementing the "Make my game" button right now!  ;)

Why? That feature was already implemented!

Redwall

The old thread was about losing the AGS source code, not somebody hacking it...

What would someone do with the AGS source code? Compile it for themselves and sell it? They'd make huge money, I'm sure.

Jon's just a troll.

This thread is another one of his pointless ploys to get replies and start arguements.

Blahdeeblah blah.

Grow up, Jon

Redwall, the main issue with losing the source code is that suddenly, all games will be open too.
Hacked, modified, destroyed, whatever.

Then again, mister 00jon00 is just an attention-seeking child who could make up anything just to get some reactions from people.

And that's it for now.

Pumaman

Erm ... 00jon00, would you like to clarify what you're talking about?

If you load the AGS EXE into Visual Studio, it opens the resource editor and you can edit the built in dialogs, the Version information and the icons. This is common to practically all Windows applications.

If you're saying that you can actually see the source code (not the machine code, which can obviously be seen in any application) would you care to post a screen shot here to prove it?

Its really about 75% machine code, but you are able to edit other things besides built in dialog, v info and the icons (I was able to edit what some of the buttons actually did, and get rid of the GlobalInts that were already difined) I left though, cuz there's nothing wrong with ags the way it is
For now, this is were I get off...

Damien

That makes me think, you could open up the winsetup application for your game and customize it. For an example add an background image or remove the aniti aliasing box and stuff.

Jon, are you trying to say that if you edit this "source code" that you have, it will change the source code for everyone!? CJ, why have you left your program such a mess! You could've at least not hooked them all together like some sort of strange form of a network!

I can edit it, but it would only change it for me unless you got MY edit off MY pc..and yeah, I am gonna try a bg for the setup-I think it needs one
For now, this is were I get off...
