So the Tigers blew it ...

I've been waiting and anticipating this for 22 years. The Detroit Tigers finally making it back to the World Series. I've been walking on clouds since they won the ALCS (actually since they beat the Yanks).

Now they have lost ... I can't help but blame it on the young pitching staff and the rediculous errors they caused. You know, I don't mind when my team gets beat ... but the Cardinals didn't beat the Tigers ... the Tigers beat themselves with a LOT of sloppy playing. I know there's a method to how they rotate their pitching staff, but I just don't get why they didn't put Kenny Rogers back in and let him bring it back to Detroit.

Very sad. I'm depressed.

Did anybody else watch? I know there are some Michiganders on these forums aren't there? Am I the only one that cared?

Bah ... just wanted to vent my disappointment.

I felt the same way when my Hawkeyes lost out to the Buckeyes... We had so much promise, and it went down the shitter. Thanks Tate, thanks.

(Tate is the starting quarterback for the University of Iowa (the college I attend) Hawkeyes NCAA college football league, for those who don't follow American sports. The Buckeyes is the name for the Ohio State University football team, who so happen to be ranked number one in the nation and are really good football players.)

I used to cheer for many teams in my younger days, now sports seldom interest my other than at a world cup or olympic games. I guess my pride in belonging to a group and team has resorted to nationalism.

I used to like Baseball, it' s the real sport for spectators... Lot' s of timeouts for advertisements, or drinking a coke or cooking some pop corn and statistics... Now I think I moved into something quite "boring except for die hard fans" called american football. Specially since someone mentioned that Yankees (My team) are for baseball what Real Madrid is for soccer (lots of money, lots of championships, but not much "soul"...), so, I think I moved to Red Shocks (The same as FC Barcelona is in soccer... We play well, our crowd is fantastic... but we don't win a lot...

)

Helm, I am not very open to make "efforts" to like something. I didn't like the first time I sucked a cigarette (Is suck the English verb for what I am talking about?) so, I never ever smoked again. I only drink beer occasionally because I gave it a second opportunity some years ago and I enjoyed it immenselly much than the previous and first time, so, that's why I drink beer if the enviroment calls to... I do cycling because I liked it the first time I did it with 13 years... Actually, I can't think in anything I do now that had suffered a process of "Come on! This is suppossed to be funny/cool, do the effort, you' ll finally like it, come on!!!"

I liked football when I saw a match for first time... for me it was a challenge to understand the rules, I thought that you compulsory had to make some yards in each turn (I thought the numbers of yards you have to do was compulsory decreasing in each turn, from 10, to 5 to 2 to 1, because the first plays I saw coincided with that...) Then I realised that you had to advance 10 yards in four plays, just that. It's funny, it' s terribly simply and prehistoric... Advance 10 metres, the ball is an excuse, the others must do everything they can to avoid it. It' s like Takeshi' s castle but with a referee.

Anyway, shut up, you don' t like sports, american or not!

Actually I like soccer - sorry, I mean, football - a lot and actually played on a youth team when I was a kid. But you're right Helm, we need to get the discussion away from whether or not it's ok to watch pr0n!

While watching the World Cup final, the announcers said that something like 1 billion people were watching the game. That's like 1 out of every 5 people on the planet! It's hard to fathom. And we Americans get so pumped up about our Super Bowl!

The Orioles cursed the Yankees with Mike Mussina. A great pitcher, and I wasn't too upset that he left my hometown Orioles to go play for New York (okay I'm lying, I'm pissed) but I know why he left to play for New York. To get a ring he so deserves. But not once since then has the Yankees done "it".

Thus, the Orioles get their revenge. It's great.

The "World Series" DOES take in all of the world. All of the world America cares about, anyway.

Plus, Americans are the worlds best bad losers. What better way to ensure you win, by not inviting anyone else to play?

Tiger Woods proabably wished he played baseball, when he and TEAM USA got bitch-slapped by the europeans in the Ryder Cup.

On the other hand, American Football seems to be a sport for people who don't like sports. Stop, start, stop, huddle, start, 2 yards, time out, huddle. Is it a clash of sporting titans or a church meeting?

I'm not a fan of any particular sport, but American Football just seems to be Rugby for pussies.

Nothing feels worse than when your hometown NFL team gets to 4 straight Super Bowls and loses them all. That really sucked.

I could really care less about the Buffalo Bills right now, because they have been sucking for years now.

At least i have a winning NHL team The Buffalo Sabres to be proud about.
