Title: I'm having problems with email, any ideas
Post by: Gemmalah on Fri 13/02/2004 15:04:30
Well this is about AGS in a way. I made my ags game and have to email it to my teacher to be marked.

I've already sent it twice as an attachment to an AOL email but both times he did not recieve it. Could his email think my attachment is a virus and deleteing it? :o  He should be recieving it on his school email which i nknow nothing about.

Does anyone have any ideas, this is my A level coursework that needs sorting. As i said i'm on aol.

would it be better to post it somewhere and get him to dowload it but he knows nothing of how to do this.

Ideas:

-Put it on a CD and give that directly to your teacher (if you don't have a burner, maybe a friend does?)
-Hand in complete and detailed instructions on how to download it from a website (go to www.blah.com, click the "TEACHER TEACHER!! DOWNLOAD DRAGONSLAYERS HERE! CLICK ME!" link, etc.)
-err.. that's all I can think of

If you're sending an exe file then the email client the other end might just be deleting it.  Try renaming it to have a different extension and tell your teacher to rename it back to .exe

Also, if the file is large then either AOL or his email could be removing the attachments, some mail servers only allow small attachments.

Zip it, thats the first thing. If it isnt very large (Ie: 2mb or less) then I'm sure somebody will host it for you, if you ask them. If you have to email it, get a Yahoo account, thats gonna be the easiest way. If all else failes, run a virus scan on the file, or burn it on cd (floppy or usb-stick if you need to).

I'd put my money on storage limits. Hotmail only allows 2mb or something like that, other free services are similar.

Pay services have small limits too, oftentimes. My ISP only let me have 2mb back when I had dial-up.
