I want to be able to capture just the audio on my screen - in Good Quality sound - Freeware. Uses include recording Business Webinars and recording Video Game Music and sound effects.

If you could post some links to the download websites, I would appreciate it!

You can do this in Audacity, a program that should be on most every computer already.

Google it, and google something like 'recording computer sound in Audacity' and you should find the links you need.

Audacity! Yes! I already have Audacity. It is a GREAT freeware program. I'll look in to it more...learn how to connect the sound cables better...

Uh, not wanting to push the envelope, could someone please tell me the steps I would need to take to make Audacity record screen audio without interference? Please?

Thanks!

Just open Audacity, and instead of having "Mic Volume" in the drop-down list, choose "Stereo Mix". Then click Record, and you're ready to go! You don't have to connect any cables or anything.

If I am understanding you right, by 'screen audio', you mean the sound that comes out of the speakers while you are normally doing stuff, right? Like watching youtube videos and such ;) ?

QuoteIn the drop-down menu on Audacity's mixer toolbar, choose “Wave Out” or “Stereo Mix” as the input source. (The exact name may be different, depending on your computer's sound drivers.) When you press the Record button, Audacity will capture whatever sound is playing on your computer's speakers. Note that on Windows Vista, the “stereo mix” option must be chosen in the Audio I/O tab of Preferences, in the “Recording Device” dropdown. On Windows, if you don't have a “Wave Out” or “Stereo Mix” option, or if it won't record, go to the system Control Panel and try to enable this option there. For instructions see: Using the Control Panel on the Wiki.

If this doesn't work on your computer, you can instead use a cable to connect your computer's “Line Out” (speaker) port to its “Line In” port, and use Audacity to record from Line In.

Should've googled what I told you, this was on the first link.

 :) Thanks again guys!  :)

I tested it on a computer game, and it worked! Audacity is an awesome freeware audio editing program!
