Title: I've been hacked
Post by: rodekill on Wed 25/06/2003 13:31:20
Well, they got me.
Looks like they used the same thing that got Mixnmojo.

Click here to see their l33t gr33t page (http://www.rodekill.com/yabbse/index.php)

They're like, evil genii or something.

Is AGS Forums safe? YabbSE 1.5.4 was released on the 18th with fixes for these security holes, I believe.

Why on earth do all hackers think they must call themselves those names?
What's wrong with Bob or Ginger? All those caps and dashes really piss me off...
if this forum gets hacked, I sure hope it'll be by someone called Ginger. That would kind of make up for it.

I never realised modern day hackers left their IRC chat room details.

Sorry to see that Rode. If I was l33t h4x0r I'd l33t h4x0r their l33t h4x0ring.

Feel free to visit their IRC channel and discuss it with them.
I've already sent an email to the address mentioned, as well as all variants of it I could think of.
I think they deserve a congratulations on being such great hackers that they could use a well known exploit to do their 'work'. It must take some real intelligence to come up with a scheme like that.

Anyways, I have backups, but nothing recent from the forum.
I guess I never expected a site with no ads and free content, not to mention very little traffic, to be a worthwhile target for these morons.

Hopfully they didn't do anything annoying like change passwords and stuff. Either way, my host has been informed.

Why did they put up shit poetry?  Do they expect people to go:

"Damn those dickhead hac...  oh...  wait a minute...  look - poetry!  They must be deep and profound and stuff!"

Ouch, man - That's bad. Why do something like that? Can't they realize that they are destroying for other people?

Hm-hm, that's pretty much the point...

and I agree with what someone said about the poetry...of all crappiness I've seen, that was the crappiest crap ever

Yeah, I suppose they some sort of kick out of doing it. Bah.

Blimey rode, sorry to hear that... what yabb version were you running?

It's rather worrying that this forum software seems to need more frequent patches than IE ._.

QuoteYeah, I suppose they some sort of kick out of doing it. Bah.

Well, if you're a bored 14-year-old with no friends and you want to try and become 1337, it's a riot.

Oh man, yet another chapter of weirdness in the history of rodekill.com

Keep the haXx0r page somewhere as a trophy of their achivement... perhaps even some light ridicule is in order too.

Edit: Blargh, that poetry really IS vomit inducing.

Done and done.

All the idiots did was put a 0k index.html file and replace the Yabb file.

So basically, they did nothing, which will make for even more hilarity.

I hope their hacker friends are impressed.

heh, ive gotten hacked about 3 times now. Once by some Israeli group, once by a Palestinian group and once by some turkish or armenian people, i forget which.

Anyway, all they did was fiddle with my newscript adding a crappy item about themselves or in the last case they did what they did to you, replace the index.html.

I was pretty jarred the first time, but you kinda get used to it, and make backups. :P

As long as that's all they do, I don't really care. I have no idea why the hell they want to make a political statement on a site which has nothing to do with politics.

These hackers know how to spell! Nah, they must have cut and pasted the poem. ._. Love the homepage. ;)

A month or so ago, I too was l337 haxx0r'd by people who just changed my index.html file to some crappy ascii art of their haxx0r name. Unfortunately it wasn't Ginger.

Unfortunately, they did do something that messed up my webmail and access to my control panel, so I can't change my password.
Can't wait to see what juicy surprises are in store!

The previous version of Yabb had a security flaw. People who haven't upgraded are getting hacked
