Why is everybody freaking about the da vinci code movie?

I mean geez the book is exactly the same thing and no one took any offense to it then?

This just shows us that religeos leader dont read.

No offense to anyone in this thread its just very strange to me that ppl can freak out about
a movie so much! To try and get it banned, these guys should rather try and ban porn or

Anyway. The main reason most people take offence from it is because it's accusing the church for stuff that never happened. There is actually no facts at all that support the book. Dan Brown himself has actually said that everything in the book is fiction, and that he never intended to attack the church at all.

I dunno either way IMO they are wasting there time the movie wont be banned at all.

There was an uproar wen the book came out - it just wasn't anywhere near as loud. Maybe it's more a case of religious leaders don't expect their followers to read.

I think there's 'evidence' for at least some of of what's in the book - the book whose authors took Brown to court is presented as documented fact, although large chunks of it (the core of the Da Vinci Code's story) where later admitted to be dubious in the follow up book they wrote.

None of which changes the fact that it's really not that good a book, and doesn't deserve anywhere near the hype it's gotten/is getting/will probably continue to get for the forseeable future.

It's just those fucking grandmothers who doen't want a rubbery cock in them and the popey that has to act religious to keep it convinsing. THe book is a piece of bullshit, and so is the church, I personally don't give a fuck what they say. It's not like it's going to have any effect in anything. Yeah I personaly havent read the book, I was waiting for the movie which I will go and watch and you know why, just because the church wants it banned.

This is like the nandos add.. (SA ppl will relate) Of the blind lady whose guide dog leads her into the pole so he can get her nandos. (Nandos is a take away resturuant in SA) Then the add aired on news channels a couple of times because they had to show the add in question Hilerious marketing worth millions and they paid almost nothing!

Whilst I personally do not follow the teachings of the Catholic church, or any, for that matter, it is not considered polite to be a shithead about it.

On the Da Vinci Code: Eh.  It's a boring book, but I suppose the Church feels it has a duty to protect it's members from morally dubious sources.  I personally think their efforts are pointless, but they see it as their job to do so.

I respect mashpotato, and mostly christians in general, but as i've gotten to know you rharpe, you've said too much bullshit, so i really don't respect your beliefs anymore. I respect you as a person and i love your pixel art, but your priest and/or parents have brainwashed you with too much gay hatred shit.

For those who haven't yet read the book:

It's a horrible, horrible, boring and dumb book. It seems to be exciting and adventorous, but when you reach the end, you'll realize that there is actually no story at all. Dan Brown may be good at marketing the trash that he churns out, but he doesn't know how to write a decent sentence, let alone a book.

Unfortunately for me, there wasn't anyone to warn me, so I bought that trash and read it. I won't watch the movie (I already read some pre-screening reviews that people are coming out of the screening rooms running), because I cannot imagine that anyone could possibly make anything even remotely interesting out of such crap.

I'm sure it'll make a lot of money - many people don't give a damn about a good story - but none of it will come from me.

You've been warned, save your money and time.
