Just checking out Dark Horizons, and saw a bit about casting of the new Batman movie and I must say that I really cant wait to see the movie.

Not only have they actually gotten a guy who could play a dark version of Batman in Christian Bales, they had Michael Caine as Alfred (who has signed on for 3 movies!), and now they have Morgan Freeman AND Liam Neeson. The cast is turning out to be extremely cool, as they can all act quite well.

They've also been in talks for a while with Viggo, um... Aragorn (cant remember his last name)  from LOTR.

Who else thinks this would end up being a good movie, simply from the cast it is shaping up well, and added that they want to have a much darker, and grimmer movie than the previous ones, which is what Batman should be.

Nacho

Mortensen... It was Viggo Mortensen, and yes, the movie sounds promising...
Are you guys ready? Let' s roll!

The Caped Crusader of Gotham City will always be Adam West in my mind. That show was how I envisage Batman. Not dark and grim.

I have heard a lot about the Batman Casting as a bunch of Irish people have been cast, and Ireland seems to think it's something cheer and wave and shout about, apparently forgetting that people are cast in movies every day of every week of every year.

Viggo wotsit would make a really good Commander Vimes of the Watch....

They're also giving Batman a British Accent. [both words are capitalised for a reason]

I suppose that they decided that in the age of the Hiltons, rich Americans can't be respectable....

I don't understand why they don't get Adam West & Burt Ward, and do a remake movie of the show, and they can even get the villans together, the ons that aren't dead anyways.

MrColossal

i think this makes a better batman movie than any other

Amen!  I can just imagine him saying, "Coporal Nobbs?? What the HELL do you think you're doing?!" Or "DUCK!."

Okay..... I suppose most people can say "duck" without much difficulty.....

But I can also see him playing Ridcully.....

I have always dreamed of a discworld movie... the tv series didn't QUITE live up to what it should have been.

Edit: Okay, so apart from completely failing to address the original topic, I decided that maybe he doesn't quite fit Ridcully, either. Possibly the Dean? Anyway, BACK ON TOPIC, I am COMPLETELY against ANY Batman movie that doesn't have Adam in it. It's like making a LotR sequel with Simon Cowell (sp? I'm not American, after all...) playing Gandalf. "You stupid, STUPID hobbits! What was the point of that?! You are ALL musical CHESSECAKE!" The cast is good, I admit, but they're just hoping a 'new' generation won't remember Adam...

I shut up now :D

Adam West was great, but he was even greater in Family Guy :D

LordHart

Well, when I started this I didn't think everyone would kinda shoot down the topic and state their undying love for Pure West... but yeah, he will always be the real batman, and if they ever make a movie based upon The Dark Knight Returns, where Batman is much older and comes out of retirement, then they should get him.

Flippy_D

Excusemewhat?

There was a TV series? Really? I never knew that!

I shall go against the grain ...

I never liked Adam West.  I used to get him and William Shatner confused ... they way the speak.  Confusing to a young lad.

He seemed kinda like a wussy.  Didn't really seem the type to be fighting crime.  Perhaps it's because I grew up with GIJoes and He-Man who were tough, burly, fighting types.  Then there's Adam West, a non-muscular middle aged man wearing tights.  I mean, Snake-Eyes wore tights sure ... but he was also a ninja (sweet!) and carried swords and throwing stars and machine guns.  Now that was a bad-ass!

Of course, Snake-Eyes didn't have Anti-Shark Repellent Spray in his back of tricks ...

hmmm

Adam West didn't need boobs and nipples incorporated into his costume.

LordHart

Yeah, who needs artificial nipples when you have a body like Adam West... ;)

I liked the old batman because they had any device possibly needed to fight crime, whether it was a riddle de-riddler, a molecular reconstructer, or a Martha Stewart jerky maker, but never a Villain Behvior Recorrectional Device (Gun).

And He-man is a homo.
