No, it can't be: DG is not here, is he?
I would put my name in the credits of the best games.
I would make them in 3D and rather than solving puzzles you'd just go around blasting things.
Now that you mention it,
A character based around DGmacphee...
A suicidal talking helecopter named hubert...
30,000 pounds of bananas...
and two words:
Monkey Cannon.
We would take all ammo from FPS games and after that we would watch world mass panic(http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/smile55.png)
**LJUBI use pot with a head and jump into the cannon
I can hardly believe I have the honour of giving the first serious answer! o_o
I'd change Grim Fandango so that he doesn't fall in love with whatserface, because it was almost completely illogical that he would. They never even knew each other, it made no sense whatsoever. On top of that, she was a bitch. I hated that ending.
While I'm at it, I'd change Kyrandia so that Brynn was wearing some kind of medieval bikini... oh, sorry, serious answers... right.
I would change SQ6 to keep the love interest with the girl from SQ5, rather than starting a new one. That didn't really make a lot of sense.
I'd make KQ8 into a real adventure game
I'd get rid of the pool puzzle in Larry 3 (I think). I could never get to the bottom in time to make it back up. That puzzle sucked, because there's no reason to assume you need the bathing suit top until much later in the game.

Dumb Quest is starting to get overhyped, which annoys me now. >:(
I would change Phantasmagoria, especially the bit where the whole game sucks.

Hm, I wonder what could have caused such a hype!
oh i see waht you did there
I would have the missing second-to-last movie in CMI, which answered why the Roller Coaster of Death kept circling, instead of going straight into lava.
And while I'm at it, I would, you know, actually have continuity in the Monkey Island games.

ok look this isnt a pr stunt did i say anything about dumb quest! yes i think we should all lay off the hype untill all your craveing are answered with the completed game, all i thought was that this thread would be a good topic for all adventure games in a general discusion state so anyone could speak they'r minds about the topic question.
ok now one serious game change for me, the game is Summoner i think the story line should be longer and more things to earn with your xp.
Destroy any Monkey Island game after number 2, cause they are both crap games that don't follow Ron Gilberts original story.
Scrap both Sierra and Lucas Arts and combine them into one company. Now Monkey Island/Space Quest hybrids come out and everyone stops arguing over which is better. Also:Leisure Suit Loom. Now that's as good a reason as ever.

if he hadn't of fallen in love with her the story kinda wouldn't have progressed, the adventure was driven by his obsession with her...
but if i could change anything about games i'd make it so that they all have chiptune soundtracks and really nice skyboxes...
Yes, all games should have sexy halo style skyboxs.
That and romance, cute girl on girl romance.
girl on girl? that's kinda excluding!

Haven't you ever seen a film noir movie? The protagonist always falls for the unscrupulous femme fatale, who is distant, harmful and pretty much a bitch. The falling in love is often done quickly and without acknowledging it. In fact, the whole love interest is always kind of a ticket out for the protagonist from his current mess, so he has no objections about it. Very often this interest leads to the protagonist in some way pursuing or coming into contact with the woman, and once the woman gives him her attention by breaking from her bitch shell, the protagonist usually acts distant, harsh and nonchalant. Usually as the adventure climaxes, the situations call for both parties to break the barriers and elude danger, ending the movie with a violent kiss.
yeh, what he said

Making it logical... how? Just because it happens in other movies, that doesn't make it less crap. I would have had a lot more respect for Manny if I felt his emotions made sense in that regard.
PARTICULARLY when he had that hot security guard ready and willing! My god, he took the bitchy future-housewife in favour of ... well. I've changed my answer. I destinctly remember wishing he ended up with... I forget her name, but the security guard... skeleton woman. She was a -damn- sexy pile of bones.

The one with the metal detector, who took you into the back room to talk about figs and dates? I believe her name was Carla. I liked her too.
I must say, I'm quite glad that Ben and Mo didn't get married and live happily ever after at the end of Full Throttle. Now THAT would have MAJORLY sucked.
By the way, I'd like to change Grim Fandango to make it mouse-driven rather than keyboard-driven. That would've made finding hotspots WAY easier. Speaking of film noir games, I'd also like to make Discworld Noir less buggy and easier to get in North America.

If I could change something, I'd make all of my favorite games longer, to be able to explore a lot more areas. For example, I wanted more than anything to explore Chess Land in King's Quest 6! And since this is Magical Pretend Land, I can forget about how much work it would take to make all my favorite games as long as I want them! Anything can happen in Magical Pretend Land!
I would also give you more control over your character's decisions. I don't want my character to sass me back none! If I tell you to "use" someone, you "use" him as much as you possibly can! None of this "He's not my type" crap!
Basically what I'm trying to say is I would make it possible to fondle more people in games.
QuoteMaking it logical... how? Just because it happens in other movies, that doesn't make it less crap.
Well yeah, but they were after the Noir style, same as Discworld Noir. So they followed the patterns established back when such things were not as important.
i would also like to change it so that Beneath a Steel Sky had more explorable areas, and it'd be so great if they made an updated version with higher resolution backgrounds (if they still have the original drawings), and i'd also change it so that they had made BASS2 when it was originally planned, which according to Dave Gibbons wasn't that long after they finished the first one.
Isn't it a known fact that we fall for those who are worse for us? I know I have, numerous times, so why can't Manny? It's a mistake every man, woman or skeleton can make.
As for what I'd change... I can't think of anything in particular right now. I'd make Grim longer, and savor every new moment of it.
I'd like to see Membrillo's heart of a twelve year old child in a jar.. In fact there must be dozens of places that weren't explored in grim that I'd like to see.
Why is Mercedes (that's her name, you know, like the car) a bitch?
I mean, she was totally good and nice, when she was alive!
And Carla, I mean, what gives with that? She's a psycho!
Babbling down her whole life story and starting to blubber around...
And all the mood swings of her in general... terrible!

It doesn't have to seem that logical. It followed classic film noir and it really doesn't have to feel logical. The whole point of femme fatale is falling for the wrong bird. And I don't see Manny's affection to be illogical. She was his ticket out of the nether regions and she was an uncommon type of girl to Manny, a thoroughbred goody two shoes. It was only expected that he would pursue her for his own interests first and foremost. Also, as Ginny said, we often fall for the ones that are harder to get and sometimes not at all good to us. An available and willing chick, pouring her heart out, such as Carla doesn't appeal to a man of adventure. Playing hard to get is the key to a man's heart, depending on the man being courageous enough to pursue the woman.
The reporter in Grim is also a very architypical character in Film Noir. She's the normal, down to earth kind of girl, that the protagonist hooks up with. She has feelings for Manny, but he ignores her. Often events lead to her demise as in Grim Fandango, and she is left expressing to the protagonist how much she liked him and what their life could've been together. The protagonist then brushes it off as another good thing he's destroyed in his life. The protagonist as in this case is often an apathetic, depressed man who twirls into more and more apathy and trouble as the story climaxes. Manny owes it to the reporter and himself to keep pursuing Meche.
