Impressive Animation (Not mine)

Just thought i'd post this link, as graphics people will find it very interesting, i know i did, as far as backgrounds and animation is concerned.

It's an animation that's been made to Radiohead's song, Creep (acoustic version). The character animation is very good, lip sync and such, also body movement. You see the room in which the character is situated get made before your very eyes.. You'll have to watch it to understand what i mean.

The only part that let it down is when the character jumps out the window, the animation isn't that convincing.. but the landing of the chatacer is VERY well done.

I'm not trying to pretend to be a mod or anything but I think this kind of thing belongs to General, while it's not made by you.

And for the video, yes it was quite impressive.

This thread is entirely graphically oriented, i thought 'Critics Lounge' would be the most appropriate since i'm welcoming critique and comments/discussion on this particular piece, which just so happens I didn't create..
Also, i'm guessing this forum is probably visited by more graphical people then GenChat is, i was just aiming for a target audience.

Well, the only problem is this is a forum for various artists to show THEIR work and get crits on it. Not to show someone elses work and ask for crits on it, sort of defeats the whole point of the forum.

Usually when people post "neat flash animation" links it's some stupid thing with cats singing and dancing so people will say, "gosh, that guy must do a lot of drugs!" ... usually so trendy it makes me want to puke.

But this was quite lovely actually.

Except the song is about a boy in school who idolizes a woman.. Doesn't really fit context, but the mood fits.

Great animation, anways. I wish I could download it or get an AVI form.

The whole lack of movement bothered me. After the dumpster I thought it got better. Still pretty awesome though.

'Course a lot of you youngsters on here prolly never heard it before.

Evil - I don't think that's not a dub over. The original version of the song said "you're so fuckin' special" but it was the early '90s and such a big deal was made over it that they released a 'safe' version where he said "you're so very special" instead. So this acoustic version probably isn't a dub over, it's probably him being silly and making an issue out of a harmless word.

I've heard several performances of Creep where the word "fucking" isn't used at all, although some of these were not in fact by Radiohead, so who knows? If it is a dubover, it's certainly not noticable.

Great animation, I love the style, as if it is being drawn there & then. I've seen similar ideas before, but few of this quality.

The recording of 'Creep' is from the 'My Iron Lung' EP (which is highly recommended as a "lost" Radiohead album). I don't think "very" is a dubover, either. Thom just sings it differently because it's a self-consciously "clean" version of the song.

I do believe the original recording was dubbed over for radio play, however.

Question:

I donwloaded the swf file but can't see it.

My computer can't see it!

After that I downloaded Shockwave flash player (or however this is called). I installed it but still this &^**% program is nowhere to be found. And of couse windows does not udnerstand what the heck extention is swf, since it does not recognise that I have installed ShockWave!

Any ideas on that?

Good stuff. I used to cover this song in my band, and I flat out love it. I really do think it was dubbed over on the very part also.....sounds strange....
