Okay guys, I've been doing a lot more painting with my Wacom tablet lately. And it's awesome, however, I'd like to be able to take my work on the road. Can you use an Ipad/other tablet device for digital painting? Does it have appropriate apps for this? Can is the screen touch sensitive (in - at least - a similar way the wacom tablet is)?
I know they make laptops where you can flip the screen around and draw on it but I'm not really looking to spend $700-$900 ... especially if I can achieve similar things with a tablet and pay less.
Any info on this guys?
I dont think the iPad is the right tool for painting, however something like this might be good?

Yes, you can. As far as Ipad, I am not too sure of which drawing tools they have, but in both cases, you can VNC (remote desktop) to your pc using something like logmein.com and draw using whatever tools you use on your desktop.
I however do use an android tablet. They are very convenient and have many drawing apps as well as some adobe products. I also use a specialized stylus which works on those types of screens and makes drawing/sketching/writing a whole lot easier. You can also download an amiga emulator or dosbox for either system and use Deluxe paint for it. I think an android tablet (or ipad) is a better investment than a drawing tablet personally.
I personally use an ASUS Transformer. If you wait until December, a new, better version of it called the Transformer Prime will be released for the same price as the current Transformer, only a lot thinner, more powerful, etc...

Can you get apps that allow the same kind of tools as photoshop, such as smudge, layers, different brushes, import brushes, brush settings, etc?
What kind of stylus do you use?
Theres a version of photoshop on android, although I'd imagine it's got a lot less features.

I'm sitting outside of BestBuy right now in line. They have a black friday deal for the asus transformer for $249. Another 4hrs 20 mins before their midnight opening. But there is no guarantee I'll even get one. The line is pretty long ahead of me. Wish me luck.

Also, for pixel art, Grafx2 has been ported to Android (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.grafx2), but this version is still primitive and is nearly unusable, at least this is what I think after trying it on my phone.

Would just like to say that I think you can do digital painting with the iPad. I went to the London International Technology Show last month. God it was dull, but the highlight was a presentation by this guy (http://www.kercal.co.uk/) showing some of his stuff on the iPad and iPhone. It was a mixture of finger painting and stylus drawn artwork.
I don't know anything about digital painting on iDevices other than his brief presentation so I don't know where he ranks in the digital painting iPad community thingy or who else might be more inspirational. Still it encouraged me to download the Brushes app and draw a stickman on the tube home :)
I am sure the ipad has some great drawing apps. I just don't know of any.

Ipad works fine, It is not pressure sensitive though(as far as I know, correct me if I'm wrong).
There are plenty of painting apps, I have only tried Sketchbook Pro.
But to be honest, I haven't had my Ipad2 for long so I haven't done a lot of painting on it, but I see a great use for it to be sketching and such when not by the computer which I could later bring back and finish off in the computer. It takes some time, as with all new things, to get the speed up since you need to adjust the opacity/brush size manually etc.

So I personally would recommend it for anyone who want's to always be able to paint but don't want to carry anything heavy(laptop) or messy(paint) around.
Yeah, and just so anyone knows, the two best apps to get for android tablets is Sketchbook Pro and Adobe Photoshop Touch. The two together will run you around $12, but at the same time, you have some quality tools on a tablet. Sketchbook pro is great for actually creating and editing art, while the adobe product is great for touch ups, edits, and special effects, etc.. You go between the two and its as if you had a quality art package right on your tablet.
As far as stylus go, for either ipad or android, the best type of stylus to use are Gomadic type stylus for capacitive touch screens that focus on precision. Get one of those and it would be as if you had an actual pencil and paper. Of course, those cost a lot more than a regular stylus. It might run you around $40 to $50.
