Ok, so I spent about 3 days so far working on one of the backgrounds for Murran Episode 3, and I just went to open it, and it looks like the file is corrupt.

I use Paint.net for it, and all other files open fine, but it looks like this one is bad.  Does anyone know of any tricks to repair, or even open it fullscreen so I can grab a screenshot and go from there?

I REALLY don't want to have to begin all over again...

Thanks,

Bill

Does the error specify that it's a corrupt file, or just some generic unspecified error thing? Might help when looking for info on this, although I've never had it happen to me. Also, what's the version of Paint.net you're using?

I just read that Paint.net files (.pdn) are actually gzip files that contain serialized instance of the Document class. So you could try to rename it to .gz and try to extract it with a suitable tool to see if the actual data inside the archive is corrupted or the archive itself. If it's the archive itself then maybe there are some gzip repair tools? If it's the data, then I don't believe there is much you can do.

Nope, unfortunately it didn't work.

I just went ahead and began re-doing it.  I swear though, I am about 50% through it after about 3 hours of work.  Things go MUCH faster when you already know how you want it, what colors, shading, etc.   This much the first time around took me probably 7-8 actual hours of hands-on work.

Thanks!

Bill
