Just about the scariest thing you could read.

Perhaps someday some young person will read this, and in the future go back in time with his own time machine and tell people about it and give predictions using the name John Titor.  Then some young person will read it, and in the future go back in time with his own time machine and tell people about it and give predictions using the name John Titor, and so on.

I relly don't think this is as bad as those "spirit messenger" people. That website doesn't really take advantage of anyone (well, not for money), and it actually makes a few good points about the way we live. Those people on TV just lie to people., and get rich doing it.

FAR: I'm interested. Guess who I killed.. er.. who died and I really miss.

But if you click on that anomally site link, you'll see that they have a book for sale about this time traveller....

Now it all makes sense...

Hmm...did you ever think that maybe some guy was inspired by this event that he wrote the book independently and wants to make a buck off of it? Hell, I almost did that until I saw there was already a book out.

Also, I like how Farlander suggested that all of this could've happened after 9/11 and all that. (1) Wouldn't you think that JOhn Titor would've alluded to 9/11 if that were the case? (2) I'm pretty sure this happened when people said it happened. It's a jump off into the deep end to think that every person who claims to have "been there" when it happened 2000/2001 is "in on it". :P

I mean, we could all say that John Lennon never existed. And that everybody who claims to have seen him on TV, been there when he was with the Beatles, etc., is in on some grand conspiracy on this fictional person. It's very easy to turn fact into rumor.

It's also very easy to turn a blind eye to something and disregard it as a hoax. I'm not saying I either believe it or disbelieve it. I'm undecided on that issue and am keeping an open mind. If it's not true, it is still a very interesting read. Titor had nothing to gain by creating an elaborate story and using insanely advanced physics knowledge (beyond even ME) to perportrate (sp?) a hoax.

I could see the other side, though. Titor COULD have used time travel as a cover because it was the only way to get attention and have people listen to his commentary on modern day society. Even so, he does make some VERY good points about civilization today.

Again, bringing up John Edwards isn't a valid analogy. Edwards has everything to gain by tricking people. He makes money, he has power over people in a way. I even watched an episode where he stumbled for some connection, for some way to spark the flow of conversation, and he kept grasping at empty air. It was funny to watch, he failed completely, until he finally grabbed at something and held onto it for dear life.

John Titor, however, had nothing to gain. He even had a message for us. Maybe this hoax (if it is or not, I take no sides) was good for us. A good kick in our complacency, something to make us take a look at ourselves. Even if it were a hoax, shouldn't we all learn a little something from his message? Just because John might be a phony, doesn't mean he doesn't have a point, or make any sense. Don't disregard the message when you disregard the story and the man.

That's probably why I am neither a believer nor a nonbeliever. I believe in his message, and that's all that really matters.

Of course, when/IF his prediction of Civil Unrest in 2004-05 comes true, then I will be amazed and believe in time travel and the future he said we would have. If it doesn't come true, then at least I'll have learned a litle bit about civilization and life in general.

Sorry to rant on like that. :)
