Sylpher, if you dont want your 781 errors ram, then chuck it this way. Give me a PM if you're looking to sell it.

I'm assuming that when you get that WinXP Blue Screen of Death it is giving you a list of errors? Right?

I was having this weird problem where when I shut down the computer it would just restart instead of shutting down. I set it up so that the blue screen would come on (disabling restart on critical errors). I copied down the code it gave me and looked it up. It told me that I had some driver issues.

Since you are having the same type of problem I would assume it is drivers. As far as the corrupt RAM thing...that just sounds fishy. I think your problems would be a little bit more common than what you are talking about if it was actually a hardware issue.

Also, why don't you have SP1 installed? Having an out of date OS and having strange problems isn't really much of a suprise. If you are on dial up and can't get SP1 let me know and I will mail it to you.

In order to fix it I would recommend reinstalling ALL of your drivers. If you have any drivers that are unsigned, DON'T install that device until you find one that is signed.

That's how I fixed my problem.

Good luck.

sorry guys, but my system was nearly ok for the time i had corrupt ram (about half a year).
it just crashed on some things, like i could not play battlefield longer than 15 minutes, but only if more than 8 people are on the server.
i could not host different games, c&c generals always crashed after half an hour.
video encoding was impossible.

and all i got was a bsod which told me i had an irq problem, then i ran memtest86, it found that half a million errors, and i bought new ram, since then my system hardly crashes at all.

and 800 errors isn't that much, so the possibility of a crash caused by the ram is very small, which means it won't happen very often (every half an hour or so), maybe only once a month.

and since he already knows he's got faulty ram he should replace it.
... it's quite easy being the best.

How can you run a memcheck? Just curious.

There's several utilities one can use to run a Memory Test, for example, one such popular utility can be found here:

Conan: "To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of the women!"
Mongol General: "That is good."
