First thing is i hope this is the correct board to post this
But just wondering if it is possible to make a patch to edit or block out gory details in
King's Quest 8. Because i heard it is gory and i can't stand the sight of blood.
And i like to play this game because i played King's Quest 1 through 7.

Well, I know of no patch, and it certainly ain't an option in the game itself, but the amount of "blood" in the game is very small... and frankly, offhand all I can think of are a couple of flying drops as you hit enemies. And that might be my imagination!

I hope you didn't read this:

QuoteJohn Swanson, if bloody gory depictions offend you, then you should stay away from the king's quest series, 8 is especially brutal, especially the carnival rape scene, it's really, just, too much to stomach at times, but if you can handle it, it's a really great adventure. Some of the more violent slayings happen "off-camera" anyway, and all you see is spatter, a few chunks....anyway, hope that helped.

This was in some other forum. I have no idea what the guy was tripping on when he write it - as far as violence is concerned, KQ8 does have it's share of beating and violence (aka "combat), but I really remember no blood or truly gory scenes. Unless you count the enemies' corpses as gore.

maybe it IS to much for snoopy, (not me, I "chunk" mine foes in quake, and laugh) YOU might find it childs play but he finds it too much. Sadly Snoopy, If you don't like blood, do not play action games. The very idea of these games is to be violent, and with violence comes BLOOD. If you want a good action game without blood I would try a Mech warriors game, or or some Robot fighting game. Maybe you want to play this game, (kings quest 8) to complete the Kings quest series. its not really needed, it has little to do with kings quest (from what I have heard) and could have been set in any mystical land. so sorry if you can't stand blood, i am sorry but I recommend  you do not play. sorry, but its seems to be yourv only choice,( but if I see a patch somewhere I'll e-,mail, or PM you) .

Lo_res_man, he doesn't know whether he finds it too much. He hasn't played it, and from what I can read, neither have you. I'm just saying that, AFAIRemember, there's little or no blood in that game. If the violence were an issue, I'd say "don't play it". It seems to be the blood, though, and that's mostly ok.

BTW, I just remembered - there are a couple (but not much more than that) cutscenes that involve blood, mostly of the I'm-fatally-injured-so-I-spit-some-blood kind. Not much.

And really, the game only looks good if you have a Voodoo card. If you don't, it'll always look kinda... well, polygonal. And rather bad. In which case the blood doesn't even look like blood.

I played it, and these are my thoughts. It's your call.

Snoopy do yourself a favour and email them that you want a patch...
Hell you bought it right? if you didnt well what can we do?

Um...whom exactly are you suggesting he e-mail?  The King's Quest series has been out of print for years, and Vivendi, which currently owns the property (by dint of owning Sierra), is doing nothing whatsoever to support it, or even to acknowledge that it existed--I don't think it's even mentioned anywhere on the Vivendi site, outside of the forums.  An e-mail to Vivendi demanding a patch for a game they produced years ago, or more accurately that was produced years ago by a company (Sierra) they since bought out, is very unlikely to get any response at all, and if it does it's just going to be an automated "Thank you for your interest"-type response with no useful information.

I think Rui's already covered the bases here in addressing snoopy's concern.  There's no need to jump into the thread with nonsensical additional suggestions.

Does it matter? King's Quest 8 was so bad, even a trip to the dentist would be more exciting than playing that boring, sorry excuse for a game. :-/

Do yourself a favor Snoopy, play some other game, if you can.
