Title: Kid Radd
Post by: Kinoko on Fri 03/09/2004 07:04:54
I just remember this while thinking about webcomics and it occured to me that Kid Radd is so cool he deserves his own thread. Anyone that hasn't read this is missing out, and I'm sure being fellow gamers you'll all be able to appreciate this ^_^

Yes, I'm a big fan of Kid Radd, I started reading it after I grew bored with Squidi's comic I even forget it's name...

The comic starts very simple and eh but then gets quite hilarious

Big fan ++1!

I've been reading it for a while. Not my favourite, but I too like it a lot and yes, people should be reading it.

Wow, over 600 comics. This is going to take me a while to read. And I noticed that he is soon to be stopping making them... Well I'd better get reading, lets hope your right, and I enjoy them :).

:o Woah... That comic is so awesome. I have just spent the last 5 or so hours reading them all. All *600* of them. Why has nobody linked to this before. I can't belive nobody has. Thanks heaps for the link. And now there is only like 2 weeks left of the series. It's like I come in and it it finishes just before the end. Now I hve to wait.

So cool. You all must read  :=

Yeah, this is excellent - thanks for linking to it. I never expected the story to actually be involving, but it is indeed. And the characters are great! I can't get enough of those happy puzzle blocks.

Plus... it's HUGE!

This comic is great but my eyes are dead after the first  300!!!

There is a bit of matrix in the plot but The quality of the art keeps growing...

cool

Fliipy_D: the actual link to Sluggy Freelance is www.sluggy.com

And three of the U rated comics (Sluggy, PA and VGCats) are the three I read on a regular basis.

The webcomics I read daily are Penny Arcade and VGCats. I'm particularly fond of VGCats, not only because the webmaster lives in the same city as me, but for it's 1337 Zelda comics (HEY LOOK LISTEN WATCH OUT!).

There are TWO things wrong with your list, Flippy.

1. Where the HELL is Qwantz (http://www.qwantz.com)?
2. No Return To Sender (http://rts.lunistice.com) there, either.

That is all.

I liked it and then A Modest Destiny stopped and I didn't have much interest in the Starship Destiny or whatever it was called.

That and I grew tired of the artist with his crusade against people stealing his artwork.

I loved Pupkin and then the artist started writing things and turns out he's a jerk also... Now I love Achtung Franz and turns out that artist is a jerk too!

I wish all these comic book artists would stop being jerks!

I second (or third/fourth/whatever. I haven't exactly been counting.) the recommendation of qwantz. QWANTZ!!! (http://www.qwantz.com)

Damn! I hate finding out about funny comics when there's been tons of them! I ended up reading all of 'Yahtzee takes on the World' and to current date '8-Bit Theatre'. Better get cracking.

Yeah, I came around Squidi.net about the time his "crusade" was happening....but I still like the comic. I stuck with it. I also came around Kid Radd pretty early, around the 200th comic, and I've been reading 8-bit Theater for a while too. But those are pretty much it, except for Ctrl+Alt+Del once in a while.

Don't forget to gather your friends and family around your computer screen for the final episode tomorrow!

While I'm here, (and because I can't be bothered to work through all of the comics linked to here), are there any other good online comics that are primarily story driven, with proper beginnings and endings, as with Kid Radd?

Funny comics are probably ten a penny, but it was the great story and character arcs that really made me fall in love with KR - indeed by the end i'd grown to love those characters more then my own family.

www.sluggy.com  is THE most storyline driven comic I've ever seen, although that one with Nick.. agh... one of Keenspot's heavyweights... really angular character design... is pretty good for plots too, although a bit self-parodying.

Yahtzee takes on the world does HAVE a storyline but I'm not sur eif it's totally story driven.

Yeah I've been looking foreward to todays comic. It should be good I hope, as there seems to be alot of loose ends that still need tying up.

You're right - I hope this thing is going to be reasonably long. I mean, after the end of the war the strip's been focused almost entirely on Radd. I hope all of the supporting characters are given a satisfying send off.

I rather liked it.

One big gif animation was not what I expected, but it was nice to see all of the characters with their own little part in that last credits sequence. Admittedly it wasn't that big on plot, but that wasn't what it was about, it was a nice send off to the series.

Yeah it was nice. I was expecting more, but yeah. I wouldv'e liked it to have a bit of plot and explanations, but a cool animated credits thing will have to suffice.
