Sam.

wowee. i'm in australia, i can hardly believe it, we flew in from singapore yesterday morning after a 20 hour flight, thats a long time. I'm in sydney for three days before moving on to dullsville (read- canberra). What i really want to know is, what can i do in sydney for three days/ we did the obvious today and wnet to the opera house etc. but that got old real fast, so any sugggestions?
Bye bye thankyou I love you.

Go to Cabramatta.

Most sydneysiders avoid it, but it's my favourite place in the whole city.

Apart from that it's perhaps bad to get an opinion from people who live in or near a city as to what to do. After all, the unique wonderful things you can't do back home seem completely mundane to them.

If you really want a day trip, catch the Manly ferry is you haven't already.

Then go to Tasmania, since it's the best place for tourists in the country in my opinion.

Welcome Zooty. If you're a skater like myself then you'll want to check out some of Australia's skateparks. In sydney, the best would probably be Maroubra. Not too sure bout canberra though. If you're not a skater, get to Bondi Beach now. NOW. NOW! It has some of the best waves, and it's renowned (you've probably already gone, but anyway) . Go to the Blue Mountains if you can stand the cold, and go on a Scenic Railroad trip, they're pretty fun. Anyway, good luck, and BTW, when you get back to Great Britain, tell em' that WE DO NOT HAVE KANGAROOS BOUNCING EVERYWHERE. I REPEAT WE DO NOT HAVE KANGAROOS BOUNCING EVERYWHERE!!!

You're with your family I'm assuming and since you're under 18 I can't recommend any pubs.

To be honest, I live here and I hate going into the city, unless there's something specific to do. (but that's because I've done it all)  But it's always good to just walk around unfamiliar territory.

If you like the beach I'd prefer Manly over Bondi (which are the beaches we send the tourists  so the best beaches aren't disturbed) Manly is very nice though (as much as I hate the footy team)

It's been perfect winter weather here for the past few weeks 23 C with perfect clear blue skies, probably like your summer weather (until tomorrow)

It totally depends what you want to experience, whether it be Zoo's, Museums, bush walks, cruising in the harbour.

I'm sure you'll find something interesting (until you go to Canberra)

I just had a thought about the mundane seeming fantastic to outsiders. When my girlfriend's parents visited from Japan, they were apparently amazed by the scenery on the train between Sydney and Newcastle, which really surprised me. I guess objectively it's pretty, but having seen it all my life, it's just...what's outside the train. [BTW, I'm not recommending this as a tourist activity unless you were going to do touristy things in the valley, and that's even more mundane to me].

Zooty, get a bus to Melbourne and take a photo of the Round the Twist lighthouse for me and I may love you forever! Sounds great that you're in Australia - stick around there for a year or so and you might just be able to make Mittens! :p

[Cameron]

Wheee! You are in Australia. Erm... I have nothing else to say ._.

Sam.

egad nods, I read this too late after we we went to melbourne. Adelaide at the mo, did sydney, went to manly as suggested, was lovely. Off to jindabyne for skiing on thursday. skiing in australia. :P
Bye bye thankyou I love you.

Ah, the snow cover at Jindy is crappy this year, even by our standards.

Are you going to Perisher or Threadbo?

no idea, i think its possibly threadbo, not sure. Yester4day was awesome, went to a wildlife park and cuddled a koala, fed kangas and wallabes. also saw monkeys. the monkeys were my favourite. went to the worlds biggest rocking horse, pictures to follow! At adelaide airport right now, a gbit bored so i thought id post. off to jindy (where the snow is NOT crappy, had a huge fall just yesterday) its a little inn so i may not get a post in, if not, see y'all in a week!
Bye bye thankyou I love you.

Las Naranjas

It was crappy when I posted!

In the unlikely event that you stay at the Vikas lodge in Jindy....um, I stayed there once...that is all.

Flukeblake: In Canberra we really do quite literally have Kangaroos bouncing around everywhere.  Even in the middle of our "City".

Zooty: Dunno if you've hit Canberra yet, but there's a whole bunch of touristy things you can get into that may well be interesting to you. There's all the War memorial, Parliament House, Black Mountain Tower, National Museum etc. kinds of things to do.  Of those I really only enjoy Black Mountain Tower. It's pretty cool. You can pretty much see all of Canberra from the top, and Canberra was designed for an arial view. You can go into Civic, but you're guaranteed to be underwhelmed. The National Film and Sound Archive's kind of cool too, but I think they're renovating at the moment.

m0ds: I can't believe they show Round the Twist there. It's not exactly quality entertainment. The Round the Twist lighthouse is a little way away from Melbourne. I've been there. It's just a lighthouse :P I was friends with one of the guys who was in the later series of Round the Twist. The shortest of the 3 guys that were the Twist family enemies.

magintz

WOW, you know someone from Round the Twist. I remember that show, but can't say I've seen it in a while.

Punch, yes we do get it over here in Great Britain as m0ds suggested.

Zooty, sounds like you're having a great tiem, I wish I could go. Perhaps in a few years when I finish Uni I'll blow any student loans I have on a holiday.
When I was a little kid we had a sand box. It was a quicksand box. I was an only child... eventually.

Mr Jake

Not only did we get it over here. It was awesome!

Haddas

We got it in Finland too ^-^

Las Naranjas

bad Australian childrens television has a bad habit of surfacing all over Europe it seems.

Well, at least with round the twist on the later two seasons were bad, I have good memories of the original two.
