well isnt it always the most simple things that are causing the problem, well it is.

and in this case it was too :)

not going to tell you though ;)

You don't need drivers installed to make the monitor work with the card, assuming it's a newish motherboard you just need get an AGP graphics card, clip it into the AGP and plug the monitor into it.  You'll just be limited to low res/colour until you set up the drivers.
Installing a hard drive is pretty simple, any cables you need will usually come with the drive.  Otherwise your motherboard may also have the appropriate cable with it. http://www.hardwarecentral.com/hardwarecentral/tutorials/31/1/ has it step by step.
Just using the old hard drive in a new PC will probably cause problems with drivers etc, best to do a fresh install of windows on it and instal drivers from scratch.

and remember to look for the right jumper settings.. if your hd is primary master and your cd-rom(s) are on the secondary ide channel then you should set your new hdd for slave and hang it on the cable on which your old hdd is.

but you don't need a new hdd if you are installing a new graphics adapter.. the graphics card is the first thing initialized when you are switching on your computer, and then the bios loads.. so, graphics should be plug'n'play, but you may need graphics drivers for windows.
... it's quite easy being the best.

ok, so i found out the problem is probally because i have the wires from the power button set up wrong. *sigh*

I'm on about the hhd led, pwr reset ect.

I really dont have a clue where they go in, they're just annoying little wires. I may have to take the machine into a repair shop or to a (smarter person than me)'s house so they can help.

I'm kinda stumped on this one.

Hell, even I can install a HDD  ;)  You'll be fine. Just remember to partition it, and remember to slave/master.

Boyd, oh you internet bully youÃ,  :)

*edit* see first post

dasjoe

you are sure you have plugged the graphics card into your board?
or are you using an onboard device?
is your ram correctly inserted?
disconnect every device not needed for post and bios (i.e. hdd(s), floppydrive(s), pci-cards. just rip out everything that's neither your graphics card nor your processor nor your ram (in case youve got more than one block: remove all except one))

be sure to have the pc-speaker (that little black device which makes *beep* when you turn on your pc) plugged in, and listen to the beeps.. look into your mainboards manual to see which tones mean what.

Picture won't come up usually when you messed up some wires of burned your motherboard. Or both.

hX ive tried it, taken out all optical devices, floppy ect. And still no luck.

Would it be a good idea to reset the cmos using the jumpers on the board? It could be a bios problem i suppose...

Increator: so if one if the wires has burnt out, even if its somthing as simple as lets say the HDDled then the entire moniter will sease to work? well that sucks

Chicky

sorry for the double post, but the internal speaker gives you two quick beeps on startup. The manual doesnt have anything about beep's so does anyone have a clue what this means?

BOYD1981

here's a site with a guide on beep codes - http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm
apparently, 2 short beeps indicates a parity error, which i think usually relates to memory...
instead of asking us you should actually be asking the people that made your hardware, they can provide you with more help than you need
