Who remembers the late 80's/early 90's cartoon "Bucky O'Hare"?
*raises hand*
Never liked it very much though. Back then it was Ninja Turtles or nothing (nod)
Bet let's dig deeper! Captain Future, anyone? Ulysses 31, ya? Inspector Gadget? Galaxy Rangers?
Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors!!!
How about... M-m-m-Mask!
Or how about Wild West COW Boys of Moo Mesa?

Shit YES! I remember how I tried to rebuild all the cool vehicles with Lego bricks.
I failed. But it was awesome.
Another one- DUCKULA!
Yeah, I loved how Nanny always called Duckula "Duckyboos"!
Duckula is the best so far, but it's theme tune is rivalled by...

Defenders of the Earth. It totally sucked.
Yeah, but who still remembers Candle Cove? That show was awesome, although I only saw maybe three episodes...
Man, I'd pay money to see a Sectaurs vs. Visionaries crossover....

I wanted to post Jem :((((((
But the best theme of all time is simply the song that made me want to get a guitar. OF ALL TIME.

I'm sorry, but even though it had some animation slip ups (mostly lip synch, and even then it's far better than other cartoons) in the early episodes, it's still the best cartoon ever and with the best spin off collection and movies. No lessons about cleaning garbage or bs like that, just pure violence, action, darkness and humor. I think the ones with the Joker are still the best ones, but there are so many great characters and details and gems of episodes that are still paramount. BTAS:

You... I like you.
I don't remember much of Bucky O'Hare other than the awesome NES game that was made based on the cartoon. You got to play multiple characters even though the robot was the only one worth playing. I DO remember the show being pretty hard sci-fi (I.E. very, very detailed and expansive) for a kid's show which is something you don't see a lot of today.
Batman: TAS still holds up well. I recently got the entire series, and after ripping to my hard drive and putting it in the correct viewing order it was awesome to see again.
I think Batman: TAS, Samurai Jack, Dexter's Lab, and The Powerpuff Girls are the four cartoons I remember as a kid that still hold up today.

I LOVED it! :D The four-armed, one-eyed duck was the man! Uhh, I mean, duck.

I remember that one, too. Forgot what it was called. Thanks!
Here's one of my favorite classics!

TMNT or nothing? Pfft. Rocko's Modern Life ftw.
And for 90's cartoons, you can't beat the intro to Sonic the Hedgehog SatAM! Anyone wanna do the honors of posting the theme song video for that?
I still can't get over the fact that Urkel voiced sonic.
I always liked the Galaxy Rangers. It left a lasting impression on me that Thundercats just didn't.

I keep thinking I'd like to do a game in the visual style of eighties cartoons, but I'm just not that competent an artist! Which is a shame, since I've got so many concepts clawing their way out through my ears.

Heretic! What's not to love? Swords! A convertible tank! Humanoid felines with pecs like watermelons and shoulders like coconuts. To me, Lion-O's was the new He-Man (with WAY better haircut, too). And Cheetarah! Check out that body! It shall be the last thing you'll see -- before she claws your eyes out for the blasphemy ;)
Hm... Galaxy Rangers were cool, too. I didn't remember the name - but I did think of them when I stumbled upon this thread. And when I look at it now, it kinda looks like Cowboy Bebop here and there (especially the warp speed sequences). Another space-opera thingy that comes to mind is SilverHawks.

It's basically ThunderCats in space. I think I liked it a little less than TC -- but they did have some wicked enemies, and the rock theme was cool, too.
To move slightly away from lasers and swordiness, and to celebrate Petteri's (hopefully reasonably lengthed) return, I present....
DENVER, THE LAST DINOSAUR (I challenge anyone who hears that title to not sing as much of the rest of the tune as they know :P)

Another favourite of mine being....
Ch-ch-ch-Chip & Dale, Rescue Rangers:

And finally, a personal favourite for obvious reasons :P

....3 youtube embeds in 1 post. I feel so...spammy.
Galaxy High (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISdr6wf68Kk) is the cartoon that inspired me to make Limey Lizard. That said, I was a big fan of Thundercats, Transformers, He-Man, GI-Joe!, TMNT and many other cartoons growing up. I do think the coolest intro music award would have to go to M.A.S.K. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2Z1yLO9C-Q), though. The real shame is that there were just so many good cartoons in the 80's that competition for time slots was fierce and shows like Thundercats only lasted like 3 years if they were lucky (unless you were TMNT).
Also, here's a nice (but by no means thorough) montage of some of the more memorable 80's cartoons: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3r2SOJdJKDo
So how about guilty pleasure cartoons rather than popular ones? I would say mine were Pole Position (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGlklGtBNCE) and, of course, Pac-Man (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n3n22GQMgcU). Shameful, I know.
So, what were some of YOUR guilty pleasure cartoons?
80s went fantasy and sf, 90s went dark and scary and now we have really a small number of show which show really creativity and world building. There's stuff maybe like diluted 80s, Ben10 (don't know if anybody saw this, but the monster design is pretty good) and the post-something stuff like Adventure time and then there's a bunch of stuff on Adult swim which makes jokes that are funny to people who watched all the 80s and 90s stuff.
We're forgetting Robin Wood (the anime one, i think robin no hadouken), where robin is a kid. The english theme is just amazing. I can still sing it to this day.

Several of people I've met that came across this, still remember the "good luck to you, robin of the forest" part of the song. Simply amazing.

I... I really liked Ojamajo Doremi (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Anime/OjamajoDoremi?from=Main.OjamajoDoremi) back then. :-[
Ninja Turtles (the 1980's version)... my favorite villain is Baxter Stockman (in his mutant fly form).
