Title: Looking for a Buffet...
Post by: Meowster on Mon 12/02/2007 17:52:09
...for my 21st Birthday, I want a buffet goddamnit. They are my favourite type of meal.

I'm talking hot and cold foods, pastas, seafood, meats, cheeses, salads....  you know, a PROPER buffet, like I once had in France.

Thing is, I don't know where you erm... GET those from. Hotels or something, surely? I live in Brighton, so it would be best if I could find some place that does an awesome buffet either here or in say, London or somewhere close.

Anybody got any suggestiions?

There are companies that do private catering, you can probably get these kind of buffets there. There is one a few blocks from my place, so I've gotten one from there a few times for parties. It's great, they bring it over, with heater plates and everything. Sounds like that would be what you're looking for.

Haha.  I've never heard anyone say "Buffets are my favorite meal."

Then again, I live in America, and I know of at least 10 in a 10 mile radius.

Yeah, one of the things that I really miss about the US. Buffets for everyone, Old Country Buffet, Chinese buffet, Ryans, Golden Corral (the list goes on and on and on). Great places when nobody can agree on what they want to eat.

Then again. I haven't really gone out much on the UK economy, still a bit into sticker shock on that whole 2 USD = 1 GBP. So I really don't know if there is anything good in my local area (other than Pets at Home and Home Base, but those aren't resturaunts).

A matter I was just talking about this evening.  I don't know of a single "real" buffet within 30 miles of my home and find that it's one thing I miss about the South.  Golden Corral is sub-par food but I do miss it.

Buffets? I've only seen them at parties - they're not overly common here either :P
