Title: Looking for application that allows third person 3d games!
Post by: Minimi on Wed 02/06/2004 15:16:22
I myself am a hardcore Bryce user, but I want to dig something deeper into the modelling part. I bought Bryce 2 years ago, and I could say that I know pretty much everything of it.

Now that I don't have much money, I came onto Wing3D. wich is a free modelling program. From the first moment I was enthousiastic about it, so I'm learning it.

I have always wanted to make of my character Pimmy Pencil, a 3D game. Till now I got this far with CorelBryce5 :

or for full size : http://minimi.spijbelaars.com/cactus1024x768.jpg
But I'm not very happy about the result, because Bryce limits me pretty much!

So I want to model it in 3D with Wing3D, and then use it in a game.

What application can I best use for that?
I want a cheap program, wich allows 3rd person, and 3ds, or wavefront models. I want to be able to make a commercial game with it.
2 engines are falling away already
- Blender -> because when I leave the program the buttons disappear and it crashes all the time(maybe someone got a patch for this?)
- 3D Gamestudio way too expensive![/b]

Please give me some info on 3Dgame-development applications, so I can choose one to buy, or use, if it's freeware ;)

look up Blitz3d, Dark Basic or Ogre3d

Ogre isn't ment for games but there are things you can download apparently that make it game ready... in a way

I'm pretty sure, I'm going for the DarkBasic! It looks pretty promising, and I know already Visual Basic, so it shouldn't be that hard to learn! It's only $90 the proffesional edition, so I'm going to loan some money and order it! Thanks alot eric!
