Hi there!

It's my first topic on the AGS forums.  :D

I've started with creating a game with a friend of mine, I'm asking here if tools for writing scenario, organising puzzles ideas, backgrounds, characters... exist.

I'm using Word, Excel and Powerpoint but it doesn't really make the job.

Sorry if it have been already asked.  :)

Thanks for reading, have a nice day.

The only one I can think of is Rodekill's Wurd Problems 2004 AGS (available on his downloads page), but I've never used it myself. It's possible Candle's Code Snippets prog could be useful too, although again I've not tried it.
I know what you're thinking ... Don't think that.

Thanks Ashen. :)

The two seems interresting, but too basic.

Perhaps if I code myself...  ???

I just use a simple text document with different catagories.

Mine includes things like:

Background - Your outline of the story
Characters - Names and details, what role they play etc, i also make note of weather the sprites are completed or not.
BGs - a list of all the bgs in your game, important to keep track of how many there will be etc, and how many of those youve finished.
Script- A written script of how the characters will interact, with possible dialogues etc.
Puzzles- A list of puzzles within your game, logically in order, probably worth including the list of items here too.
Various/extras - Perhaps notes to self or references youd like to note to put within your game etc.

Personally, I use Microsoft One Note.  It's the best program in the Microsoft Office Suite and the one that no one seems to know about.  It allows you to organize different projects into different folders and each project has multiple pages which can be organized into sub-folders.  Basically it allows you to organize everything however you'd like.

On the pages, you can type anything you'd like, draw with the mouse/tablet, paste images (the program also lets you easily take screenshots and paste them to your notes), record audio... anything.  The page has all the options a Word document has but has a lot more!

You can check out the program here.
You can download a 30 day trial version from Microsoft's site here.

It's really helped me stay organized.  Two thumbs up!

I use a private Wiki.

It's mostly empty at this point, though.  I need to do lots of filling.

Can be very handy for team projects.

I think UML can do the job for modeling interactions.  :)

Thanks a lot for your contribution, it's trange this question has never been asked before.

Scummbuddy

it has been asked before, which is why we were able to give you programs that could have fulfilled your question.
- Oh great, I'm stuck in colonial times, tentacles are taking over the world, and now the toilets backing up.
- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.
