Title: Looking forward to in 2004...
Post by: SSH on Mon 05/01/2004 13:46:10
What AGS games are you looking forward to in 2004?

for myself in no particular order:

Buccaneer II (especially the fight scenes!)
Legend of Leitor's Edge
Monkey Wrench
obilgatory FoY
Awakening of the Sphinx if the lazy creator gets off his ass and works on it a bit more

Obligatory as in "gotta have" or as in "probably won't be finished in 2004" ? - because we're are going to work really hard on finishing this doodah!  ;D

I'm looking forward for Orbs of Time... But, judging from the progress I've made so far, we are going to see it finished at 2005 or 2006

In addition to what's already been said here, I am looking forward to Jon Stickman (demo was very good) & The Case (although eVOLVE said himself that this wasn't due 'til the end of the year).

Oh, and the 'obligatory' KI :P

Well, you know I'm always looking forward to Snake's games... (I just wish I could find out what's up with evil night, I've been waiting on that game since I joined this community.)

I guess I'm also pretty interested in Trailing Blood, and Chisel 2.

I just started playing 5 Days a Stranger, Yahtzee's the shit!.  I can't wait to see what he comes up with next.

Hey, I don't see my game on here... oh yeah, that right, nobody knows about it!... (I'm not promoting it until I have something to show).  ;)

EDIT: Oh yeah, I forgot about the new Pleurghburg.  I'm looking forward to that.

I also noticed a lot of RON games have come out this year... I've never tried any of them, which one would you recommend?

Aye, let's see here:

First of all, no one mentioned Byzantine - The most atmosperic AGS demo I've played so far. It truly gave me the creeps... How's it coming along?
Others than that, Pirate Fry 2, Revenants, PB:A, Bad Timing, Evil Night, Monkey Wrench, Leitors Edge(Of course...) Squinky's Sci-fi-thingamabob which he showed stuff from in the Critics Lounge, plus a lot of others which I can't rememeber at the moment...

Jekyll/Hyde:
Glad to see at least someone has noticed my tiny efforts... ;) Hehe...

Edit:
Gnah... I forgot Shadowplay. I am a moron. I will hang myself now.

Mike's list: (in no specific order)
Bad Timing, Goldlagoon, Jon Stickman and 2ma2's 'What Time Is It?' if it gets finished. Can't think of anymore straight off. Where is 2ma2 these days anyway?

EDIT: Oh yeah, Squinky's tenatively titled 'Stan and Sancho save the day', PB:A and Revenants of course.
Title: Re:Looking forward to in 2004...
Post by: Nacho on Tue 06/01/2004 12:10:06
Well... I think that making a list can be offensive in the sense that I can forget some friends, so... mateys, If  I forget one of you, make me know:

Sibylla, FoY, Jon Stickman, "what time is it?", any Squinky's one, and DG's.

Of course... Monkey Island 1.5.

Title: Re:Looking forward to in 2004...
Post by: Pessi on Tue 06/01/2004 13:20:01
I think school is keeping 2ma2 really busy. He's dropped by at our development forum every now and then. Last news adventuregamewise is that he got a drawing tablet and he's got a good hang of using it. However, obviously he hasn't been able to get any time (in addition to 10 minute breaks ;)) for drawing much so there's not much more I can say. Knowing his skills I don't have any doubts.

-

I think Bad Timing and anything from Igor :) are the things I'm really looking forward to at the moment.

I'm looking forward to the next part of Perils of Poom, also Monkey Island 1.5 (Farlander, please release some screenshots or demo or something, im itching to have a go!). Also, I'm eagerly awaiting Rodekill to start work on a new project too - not sure if i'm allowed to say what it is but you really should do it, rodeypoo!

Sibylla looks great too - I cant wait for Andail to finish and release that, the demo at Mittens blew me away. I'm also gagging for Chrille's "Revenants", and the new Pleurghburgh too.

I cant wait for The Case aswell, plus I know Annie was/is working on a game, I can't remember what its called but Im still waiting patiently for it :D tommeh was making some pirate game too I believe, can't wait to see that. I also hope Ionias returns and decides to make something new also.

I forget names of the creators and the game titles but there was a great looking game in the production forum too set in early 20's (?) USA which looked great.

And of course, Bad Timing - even tho its not an AGS game :)

Run Hot is on my list every-year, so thats my obligatory need-to-play game.

I've probably missed a bundle. If so, it's because you don't talk about your game enough! :p

:)

- Sibylla
- Chainsaw Wedding ( :P )
- Legend of the leitors edge
- Run hot
- The case
- Jimmy Jam
- Bad Timing
- Byzantine & The Journey Home part 2
- Ignac 2
I probably forgot to mention something, so many good games coming.

Psychonauts!

Even the word is sending chills up my spine! Psychonauts. Wow! It's gonna be so awesome. I'm gonna cry, right now, in fact.

Gosh, give me a second to pull myself together.

But in the AGS scene, I guess I am looking forward to,

Leitors Edge
Buccaneer II
Pleughburg: The Asylum
Indiana Jones: Fountain of Youth

And the moment I choose what font to use for the design document of a TOP SECRET NEW PROJECT.

Oh and er... Jon Stickman.

Hell, yeah. Too bad you missed it. Oh, well...

Actually, the reason that there hasn't been much talk about it is the fact that it wasn't made with AGS and it was more of a test game (or was it only a demo?) than a full adventure, I think.

I'm looking forward to everyone's games, because no matter what everyone here puts forth good effort and it's always a great thing to be able to play what someone else poured their heart and soul into.

There are favorites, of course.  At the top of the list:

..,~'' Apprentice 2 ''~,..

And close runner-ups:

Bestowers of Eternity, part 2
Indiana Jones and the Fountain of Youth
Quest for Glory 2: Trial by Fire (VGA)

Wow! Thanks to this thread I will be able to find more games to look forward to. I didn't recognise alot of titles so I'm going to do research and have checked out the provided links.
Like another , I look forward to all the games but here's a list of the ones I'm most excited about :

Shadowplay ( one minor point : Why is it called "Shadowplay" instead of "Shadow Play"? )
"Sunset Boulevard meets Gabriel Knight" I love GK and when I saw the screenshot of the GK-like conversation , my heart danced.  The screenshots are great , looks like the graphics are going to be awesome. I haven't seeen Sunset Boulevard but I love that song. "Sunset Boulevard , twisted boulevard , ...but in those dreams were hidden dragons. She had a dream and I had hope , it seemed an elegant solution..." *sighs dreamily*
Jon Stickman : I love stickmen , and the graphics are different from alot of games...especially the characters themselves since they _are_ stickpeople , after all. Heh. Oh , and I love romantic comedies.  ( there's this other stickgame I played that I enjoyed but I can't remember the name of it...the gaphics were monochrome though so its' not like either is a rip off of the other ...which is very nice / cool.)
The Tablet of Altheria : Great plot and nice graphics.
QUEST FOR INFAMY: So You Want To Be A Villain? : Great idea.
And if it gets made , the idea of playing as a female hero instead.
I know it's unlikely but I would like to see something like Royal Quest worked on again someday.
Fan remakes of older Sierra games that haven't been remade yet or are being worked on but just not finished yet.
The Legend of Leitor's Edge : Great plot.
Paparazzi Prince : Cute graphics, funny plot.
Minor -  "Paparazzi Prince" , how about something like "Royal Woes" or "Headline Prince"?
Time Out : Great graphics , interesting plot.
Donna , avenger of blood : I usually hate anything in monochrome but this looks interesting.
Jimmy Jam : Great looking graphics and funny plot.
Minor gripe - Jimmy Jam? Why not call it something like "Jimmy : King of The Problem Children" ( ack....on second thought that looks worse because it's too long. ) , "Crazy Jimmy" , or "That Darn Jimmy!"?
Bestowers of Eternity 2  : I love this game , the art , the story , the characters. *sniff*
Devco Quest : Looks cool! The plot sounds good too.
Buccaneer 2  : I didn't understand some of the art in the first one but things look improved in the screenshots for the second one ( ie : Why was the picture of his dead wife in Red?
It made me wonder if his wife was Red because she was alien or was it a visual reminder of the fact that she died or just a coloring mistake? )  , but otherwise I loved this game the way I love BOE.
More pirate games. ( Yes, I'm sorry , I'm addicted to pirate stuff. Yes, I'm ashamed. Oh...but I usually hate monkeys. Except for maybe Black Spider monkeys and Lemurs...I hate spiders so it's kinda funny. )
More horror games.
Anime like games , especially "child raising" or romance sims.
Spoiler
..and hentai  :-[  :D ;D
[close]
( I might try my hand at one but I am not very good at Anime style so it'd be cool if somebody else would do one )
More stickmen games.
Stan and Sancho and Pirate Provencher's Gold : Again , darn Squinky , beating me to the whole space pirate thing! *laughs* Seriously though , I can't wait to play this game.
I look forward the Indiana Jones and Monkey Island fangame(s) too.
The Star Wars fangame.
Mystery of the Sphinx or whatever. ( interesting conversation system and menu , nice graphics , semi-fun demo , ect. )
Apprentice 2 ( poor guy..when is he going to get his real first spell? )
More games like Apprentice and Wizardhood.
Ok....more everything. *laughs*
Anything else that might have not been done before and looks cool or has a good plot.
and like others I look forward to finishing at least one or two games of my own. Especially Centaur Mania , because it'd either be a long game or a series , ( Whichever works out better. ) , and comedy...surreal...hopefully it will teach people a thing or two about Mythology and so on.

Oh , Fester's Quest and Run Hot are looking good.
Petri A. Ringwald and the Maxim Gun too.
