Title: Looking forward to in 2005.
Post by: Pet Terry on Sat 11/12/2004 19:34:39
It's once again time to ask which (AGS) games you're looking forward to play in 2005. I know Run Hot, The Legend of Leitor's Edge, FoY, Roger Foodbelly etc. will be mentioned, and I too am looking forward to playing them. But what else? My list would be something like (in no specific order):

- Coell Decka
- Cattus Migrus
- Monkey Island 1.5
- Perils of Poom Deluxe
- Tulle's World 4
- The Journey Home part 2
- Donna: Avenger of Blood
- Stan & Sancho and Pirate Provencher's Gold

And of course, Goldlagoon.

Also, do you really think that FoY is going to be finished in 2005? (I hope so)

Thank you for the MI 1.5 stuff....  :'( That really touched me... The art is practically finished, but Boris, the scripter is having some problems with his universitary stuff... If he can't handle it it will be passed to another one in 2005, and finished before 2006, I promise...

Thank you guys!  :-\

Okay, maybe we should officially proclaim 2005 to be the Year of the Adventure Game.

This is not an official promise, but it is likely that KQ2.5: A Tale of Two Kingdoms will get aired in 2005.

I'm not entirely sure on games like Hero/6, Heroine's Quest, KQIX and Al Emmo, but it seems likely that some of them will appear in 2005.

I'm DEFINATLEY looking forward to this. Quantum Leap was such a brilliant show!

As for games I'm looking forward to in 2005:

-Quest for Glory II VGA: My favorite Qfg game, and with AGDI's reputation, I'm sure I won't be dissapointed.

-Quest for Calgary: A game I just started working on for my girlfriend. Her birthday is August 1st, so I KNOW it'll have to be finished in 2005, haha.

-Goldlagoon: I just love the look of this game. Go Petteri!

-KQ3VGA: When I left IA, this was pretty far along, and looking fabulous. Can't wait to play the finished project guys!

Ummm... Those are all I can think of off the top of my head...

Hey, thank you for remembering my game!
I've still some work to do (around 20 rooms, some music&sfx, missing texts and animations), but it's definitely close to finish.
As everybody knows what are the 'loudest' awaited productions, I'd like to list two that are not so widely discussed:
Force Majeure 2!!!
Shadowplay!!!

(and is Byzantine happening at all? as for Tulles World 4 I've got some not-so-enthusiastic insider's info...)
Title: Re: Looking forward to in 2005.
Post by: scotch on Sun 12/12/2004 16:05:39
I hear Byzantine may be moving ahead, though not quite as you all know it ;)

TJH2 relased next year? Maybe... right at the end.

I'm looking forward to Donna, Shadowplay, perhaps the long awaited FoY demo, (I don't hold much hope of seeing the full game), there are a lot of smaller games I am looking out for as well of course.
Farlander, pass on the MI1.5 scripting to someone else already! Barcik clearly doesn't have time, it could have been released 6 months ago if he did.

I love it when all of us gather up at the end of the year, or in the beggining, and then we talk about what games do we wish for.
But not just that; there is talk about what happened this year, what were the best games, who got what for christmas, then someone mentiones something about his job, then everybody starts talking about their jobs, and their memories from school or whatever.

I like this insight in the new year. A person has a reason to be more happy and/or cheerful.
I like the thought that it will soon be 2005, and Ignac is advertised for 2005, right.
Of course, that's just on the community side. We all have a real life and real problems to worry about, but it's a cool place to be, this AGS community.

It has informed me that one year ago 2 people were waiting for my game, whereas today there are 4.

Just glancing through the lists from last year, were any of them (apart from Apprentice II) completed in 2004? If so, did they live up to the expectations? (It will be interesting to compare the most anticipated games for 2004 with the 2004 AGS Awards.)

Edit: Oh yeah, games I'm looking forward to...

Rise of the Hidden Sun
Secret of the Lost Lagoon
Stranger By Midnight

From the top of my head;

- Indiana Jones FOY
- The Find
- Apprentice 3
- Ignac 2
- Rise of the Hidden Sun
- The Curves of Danger

And lots of other games, too!

Oh yeah, and of course Bad Timing! (Which was a lot more popular in last years thread, heh)

I can't believe no one has mentioned Pleughburg: The Alylum, but then again I don't expect it to be finished next year.
Also Larry Vales 3, but I don't supposed that will be finished ever...
Um Run Hot?

Man I'm getting bad with these games that I want to play but won't get to...

But yeah, FoY is a big one I'm looking forward to, as well at those Lagoon games. Apprentice III will be good, although I havn't gotten around to finishing II yet :P. Hmm I know there are others, but I will forget some so there is my list.

edit: Oh yeah I forgot to mention By The Sword. That was looking good, and I hope that you do continue work with what you have. And the Western by Chapter 11 studios is looking good, but I forgot its name.

Darths wild west one.Ã,  - Darth Mandarb
Ummm ... I'm not working on a wild west game!?

I am working on two, as of yet unannounced, games.Ã,  I guess this as good a time as any to say something about one of them (the other is a surprise!).Ã,  I've been working on the sequel to JP & Cosmo (my first game).Ã,  It's MUCH more complex, lengthy, and graphically pleasing.Ã,  Look for it soon in the CL and GiP forums :)

Don't ask me about the other one ... I'm keepin' that one secret for you all!

I'm going to list my top 2 most anticipated games:

1) City of Fortune (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=16309.0) by Bernie - this game looks incredible.Ã,  Might give JP & Cosmo II a run for it's money for next year's "Best Graphics" award :)

2) Stan and Sancho and Pirate Provencher's Gold (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=12076.0) - I love Squinky's style ... this game looks great and I hope (fingers crossed) that he finishes it!

Honorable mentions:
- Lost Lagoon
- Rise of the Hidden Sun
- and of course, FoY

I should like to say that if your game is seriously in production I'm anticipating it ... these are just at the top of my list.

TLOTLL

FoY

Rise of the Rising sun.

Coel Decka.

Ignac.

And well... some other surprises by Chrille, Goldmundus, Andail (Where is Sybilla? (sp?)), Mr. Colossal, Big Brother...

I have been looking forward to Gold Lagoon, Leightor's Edge, Trailing Blood (what ever happened with this game, anyway?), and a few others I can't quite remember.

*Hyde checks the "In Development" forum*

Rich is working on a Quantum Leap game?

Edit:  I got to beta test the first chapter of a game called Wolf Country a while back, but that was the last time I ever heard from Aussie.  I'd like to know what's up with that game.

Don't know which thread he talks about, but this is what Yahtzee wrote in his own forum:

"There are a lot of things I did wrong in 7 Days, and I was kind of rushing a sequel out on the assumption that everyone would love it whatever was wrong with it. I'm hoping to redeem myself with a game I just started, which has Trilby in it, and rejects horror in favour of more traditional adventuring."
