exactly, humour is often when you take the rules and conventions one world and apply them to another. like the roger rabit example, cute baby acting cute, not funny, cute baby smoking cigar and chatting up babes, funny. the reson the pokemon one was faintly funny was the fact you take a human reaction "asking for help" and put it in a world were the very act of talking will make things worse. in fact i would delete the bttle scene. and simply make the third line a confuse "what the...?!" and maybe make thay last panel "but i just want some HEEELLLLP!!!! " or something like that. the sonic isn't funny because it follows the rules of the sonic world. " i don' know much about sonic, but it seems that critter would normely do what it did. ergo not funny. I agree that elmo one has been done to DEATH, as well there is no visuel intrest. the panels are ALL the same. anouther way to make it funnier would be keep all the frames, but make him muttering, no yelling, interspace this with cutie lines said louder, all the while grumbling about the job. try it.

Editor's Note:

The first comic isn't Sonic, it's Crash Bandicoot
"This must be a good time to live in, since Eric bothers to stay here at all"-CJ also: ACHTUNG FRANZ!

LGM

Oh yes, blame LGM.

Honestly, I don't care what flukebake does. And to be fair I've probably been one of the nicer persons to him. I won't insult him for his attempts, I was the same way.

Flukebake: If you want my honest *constructive* critiscism, all I can really say is that, though I'm sure YOU think the comics are funny, make sure you are also opening up the comedy to a wider audience. We all don't share your mind of funniness, so make sure what you are doing will fly before you paste it up all over the place.

Bandicoot: While a honest attempt to parody both Animal TV and the game bandicoot, it's not really that funny because both subjects you targeted aren't really all that deserving of parody. Also, I can't tell what happened in the last frame. Was he squished?

Pokemon: Okay, this one is chuckle worthy... But again, the last frame is kindof anti-climactic. It's just a screenshot. Maybe add a caption to further ensue the hilarity.

Sesame: Okay, it's obvious you are trying to mimic the funny bits in Family Guy... But there is NO point to this comic other than to crudify a childhood classic and be vulgar for no reason. Shame on you.

Mario: Another good attempt, but the first half totally does not match the second. It's very very random.

There. That's it. Keep practicing. Get better. Just remember to LEARN from your experiences, and not to get down and out because someone doesn't like your stuff.
You. Me. Denny's.

TheYak

It's really not so far removed from idea used by VGCats.  The difference (aside from drawing his own pictures) comes from making a well-known observation of a game's trends and exaggerating it.  The strips at VG don't always require knowledge of a series, but quite often.  The most recent FF7 strip, for example, felt very familiar because it mimicked the process I go through when playing (letting everybody get beat to hell because I'm saving cash and don't want to put up for a healing potion or two).

Simply describing it isn't funny, but establishing the basis for the punchline and developing it is a skill that takes some practice.  I didn't understand the pokemon one until the talk=fight with explanation later, but if the last screen had something to clarify it, it'd be a bit more understandable [e.g. option box with Run / Fight / What? I just needed a potion! (or something)]
