hi

i bought a gba/nds supercard flash card. It allows you to play divx, mp3, several  consoles games. i discovered that an emulator (scummvm) (http://scummvm.drunkencoders.com/) would allow you to play lucasarts point n click games(and others) on the nintendo ds with great quality thru this device.

Anyone heard of this?

No my question is, do you think an ags emu could appear for the nintendo ds?

Would you enjoy this eventuality?

The short answer is no.

Thanks for the video of ScummVM on DS though. It's been discussed too, but I hadn't seen it.

Semi-related... if you're homebrew-capable already, there's one adventure GBA homebrew game I tried recently: The Last Seal (http://www.ancor.ch/tls/).  The normal play graphics aren't bad but the up-close characters are pretty amateur-ish (not that it should bother any AGS fan). 

And I definitely dig the SCUMMVMDS, S&M on my DS-Lite... awesome.

Since firmware 2.71 was cracked, to enable the TIFF exploit to run the eLoader program with out the need for the GTA savegame workaround, I have been enjoying ScummVM on my Sony PSP.

Everything from Loom to Broken Sword 2 runs almost perfectly, and the resolution of the PSP screen makes the graphics seem a lot cleaner than when running the same games in Windows.

i had no idea my ds could do that i am amazed   yes i did know about the flash cards but not to this degree WOW gonna get me one of those

I own a DS, love it. I own a GBA SP, love it. I also own a PSP which i rarely ever play games on. I just use it as a Multimedia device. I have put music, pictures and movies on my 1GB memory stick, but i also use it to read the forums when i am not on my computer. I have a wireless router hooked up to my computer, so i can wake up, turn on the PSP and check the forums. I love my little PSP.

Reading the AGS forums on the PSP (or any other site) is a bit slow, but it works great.

For those who don't know, the PSP comes with its own internet browser, so there is no hacking or firmware changes to the device.

Old adventure games on the DS would be so great. The later Tex Murphy games especially, since they had a lot of screen-cluttering menus that would be perfect shifted to a second screen.

Too bad that will never happen... Damn you Microsoft.

the cool thing with having point n click game on the nds is you can play them with the pen to control the cursor. I wouldn't spit on having these games on psp, but the psp is too expensive...

if you got linux to run on one of those things wouldn't you then, in theory atleast, be able to use the linux interpreter to run AGS games?
if i still had my dreamcast i'd try it out on that.

No, for various reasons but fundementally the code in an executable is machine code and AGS linux engine is compiled for PC x86 processors and the dreamcast/ds/psp etc have different types of processors. So unless we could compile a build for these other systems then they wouldn't run, linux or not. The problem with simply compiling a version for a console, besides AGS's source not being available, is that the hardware differs so much, and the libraries AGS uses are not available for that hardware.

A DS port would be a lot of work... I think it's possible, but I'm not too interested in doing it because like ScummVM on DS it'd be merely a curiosity. All I've done is loaded up Indy 4 and gone "oh, indy on my ds... wow..." and turned it off after the intro. PC games are generally not worth playing on handhelds in my opinion.
