Title: Maniac Mansion Sprite Request
Post by: on Wed 08/03/2006 01:27:33
Hello All,

I would like to request some sprites of all of the Maniac Mansion characters, preferably (key word) from the deluxe version. I need all of the characters, including Mark Eteer, Wink Smiley, etc. I would appreciate it if they were AGS-formatted (meaning I can just put em' in with no difficulties or tweaking). Also, if you would really like to help me out, include with these sprites a duplicate set. In the duplicate set, the characters need to be formally dressed, as if they were going to a reunion (obvious characters such as Syd or Razor would probably not have to be changed much.) And, as if I wasn't demanding too much before, please do anything you can do to make the deluxe characters kind of resemble the NES ones (I just don't like Dave's "new" hair. Don't ask why.). I understand that this is a lot to ask, so anthying you are able to do will help me. Thanks much.

I am very aware of this, and I downloaded the starter luggage. However, I will not be using the starter luggage for the sake of originality. You can be the best plot writer ever to grace the adventure game studio, but if you use previously-used graphics, you ruin all of your hard work. I have no intention of ripping off MMM. Plus, I need them modified anyway.

But those are the graphics from the Deluxe version...Ã,  ??? Well, they are as good as you're going to get from LucasFan besides PrintScreen, but then you really would be using sprites without permission.

And you can open this program called Microsoft Paint and edit the pictures as you need it.

I don't understand how you can ask for previously used graphics, and then go and say you shouldn't use them because it wouldnt be right... Just use them and be happy.

That is a good point. All I really need is a tangible version of these sprites, I may be able to do the rest myself. You're saying printscreen can be used to achieve this?

There you can get a lot of things for your MM- or MMM-Game: maniacmansion.microspace.ch (http://maniacmansion.microspace.ch).

You must look under "Ressourcen"!

But there are only the sprites of the Deluxe-version!

I do need sprites of the deluxe version, but I would like to modify them (as explained in a couple previous posts. I can get the original sprites into AGS, but I know of no way to just get the art out of the game. I need tangible material, I can't just use MSpaint on sprites that only exist in an AGS file format.

just make your own sprites from scratch then. simple.

The folders I gave you before have the many many picture files of each animation. You can edit those. And if for some reason, you only get the character files read only by AGS, then import them into ags, and then go to the sprite manager, and export the sprite files one by one, play with them in MS Paint, and then reimport them on top of the image you just exported.

Or do what Boyd says. He speaks the truth. Hard work will be worth it.

NotKyle:
So the only reason why you actually posted here was you didn't know how to export sprites out of AGS? (Besides asking people who don't know you to do work for you for free in their spare time.)

Damn.

No, this was not the full reason I posted this message. Read my fist post all the way through. I asked if someone would be kind enough to modify them for me as well.

Not that it's an excuse for not knowing how to export correctly. AGS exports in a paint-recognizeable format? Thanks, Scummbuddy.
