I just tried RuneScape for the first time a few days ago and I found it pretty nice. Okay, it may not be the best multiplayer RPG there is, but it still is fun. I just wanted to know if there's anybody here who plays it.

sedriss

i played it a few years back, then i realized that there are ALOT of better free mmorpg's out there.
By the time you read this you've already read it.

Ishmael

I played it for quite a while, untill I realised how stupid it is... all cs-talk and "FREE STUF PLZ!!1111!!" -_- It's fun, but not when you have a horde of newbies surrounding you when you're trying to mine something to raise your levels, not to get a heck of a load of cash to give to some newbies who are too lazy to go the 'normal' way and beat those goblins or tramps untill they see them in their dreams...
I used to make games but then I took an IRC in the knee.

<Calin> Ishmael looks awesome all the time

Gah, I played that game to death back in the day, even payed for it for a few months....I can't stand the new "3d" look though, it's much harder to navigate now....I remember another member of ags used to play, and I chatted with him for awhile on the game, but I can't remember his name.....

Heh, I used to have a collage of me hitting 20's-26's as a desktop for the longest time.  :)

I played a lot until recently, it had some of the coolest quests I've seen in an Online RPG(My favorite being the one where you had to make a "human" so for the voice you had to put a parrot under a torture rack so he could learn some really gruff, dirty language.).

Squinky: If your name on Runescape was Squinky, I think I remember you...

Squinky

Yep, it was me....I could picture you in that picture you posted (the one with you and your dad looking at "tomatos") But I couldn't remeber your name....weird...

Kon-Tiki

Used to play it, but only got boring quests. "Make bread. Fetch me my sword. Fetch me my shield. etc" Not to mention that some quests required some odd stats to be raised. To solve one, you'd have to kill a crapload of cows and work their hides, or chop down so many trees Greenpeace'd be on your back, then just burn them.

Besides that, the people there were just horrible. You're lvl. 3 and need to mine some clay, which's worthless if you're a wee bit higher than lvl. 3. There're alot of players with lvl. 100 and up there, with the best tools for mining one could have. What do they do? They rush after each rock you go after, no matter if it's clay or something else, mine it faster due to their superiour tools, leaving you to waste your time, not getting any training in mining, nor getting what you wanted to mine. Only thing in return, is insults from them.

Third of all, there's no real purpose to it. In some MMORPGs, you can work yourself up to be a huge trader, or get in a guild and help out those that're starting out in it, or anything else. Look at Anarchy Online (it's got free accounts till summer of 2006) and you'll see what I mean. Runescape, on the contrary, has no such thing. The economy there's so that if you make something you'd otherwise buy for 1000, you can sell for 10 at most. You don't even have costs of tools and resources back for that. There's no possibility to join other people into a team or form guilds either. It's everybody for themselves in there, everybody just doing brainless, purposeless statraising.

Runescape is THE MOST BIGGEST crap I've ever seen. All you do is hit a rock all day, not really intersting, is it? It doesn't look very good either. I played it for 1 day 2 years back and I never want to try it again.
You got it!

Coming Soon!

Ubel

Okay, I understand now what you all mean. I've played it about 5 days now and I already got fed up with it. It was fun within the first days but after when all I had to do was hacking animals and fishing, it started to taste like sand.
