Hello,i had AGS for some time and it worked fine.
But know whenever i test a game or play some other game made with AGS i ger an error message:
"Unable to initialize your audio hardware.Problem:Failed to init MIDI music driver."
I tryed manny things on settings and on my coputer settings but nothing helped.
Does playing a MIDI with e.g. Windows Media Player work?
If not, reinstall the MIDI/sound card drivers.
No,it wont play them and my audio CD is mesed up.
Is there a site where i can download something that would fix this?
This happened to me once.
On the taskbar, click your volume properties, and ensure that the Synth option doesn't have Mute checked.
I was once highly annoyed by non-playing Midis and then I accidentally found out it had been muted somehow.
I'm not positive, but I don't think it would give an error if MIDI was simply muted. Is it possible that you have some other program open using the MIDI driver?

Sorry about the necropost, but I'm getting the same problem and couldn't find a solution anywhere. Would it help if I posted a picture of the error message mentioned above? Midis play fine on WMP, nothing is muted. Is it possibly a problem with my computer, (Win.98 2nd edition) or my speakers?
If you're getting the same message as in the first post, then I'd suspect the problem is that AGS is not able to assume control of the MIDI device because another program is using it. Make sure WMP or any other sound/music player is not playing a MIDI file, and try it again. If that doesn't work, try restarting your computer and see if it works then. Beyond that, I don't know. Maybe someone else can think of something else.
If AGS can't play MIDI music I believe it generally means something's gone wrong with your hardware setup. If it's a new PC you should have a disc of drivers & resources, which should contain your audio hardware/software setup. Try re-installing that.
I remember this problem on really old computers with Sound Recorder. You couldn't record, playback etc. Turned out this was because the computer didn't even have a soundcard.
