Post by: Moogle on Sat 03/04/2010 02:50:28
hi every one

new here & i was wondering if there was ever a way to create a online gui the updates though a sever

i was thinking if i could make a shop & mail GUI for games were the shop will get new stuff every month & the mail gui will act like your basic mail provider like yahoo, gmail, ags

if not i can just make it seem like the gui would work like that

It is hypothetically possible using a Windows-only engine runtime plugin. So, yes.

Practically, no though.

Your post is somewhat vague. You want a desktop client frontend to an online store?

Build that motherfucker in AJAX, I say. And then give it an obscure location and build a webkit-based wrapper around it. You can even write it with a Qt toolkit if you want the store to be cross-platform, and have multiple download links for each item for different platform versions (Windows, Mac, Linux).

As for some sort of mail option, I'm a little clueless as to why you would want one in that setup.

I think he's asking about being able to change the items in an in-game shop over the internet.

Look up the TCP/IP plugin, I don't know how to use it, but it probably can do this.
