I'm going to be starting a collection of small Jamfonts for the musicians here. What is a Jamfont exactly? It's in soundfont format, but it isn't one-shot samples. Mixed in the plain notes are stacatto notes and short riffs and slides, etc. Here's a quick MP3 demo:

Interested? Download the slap bass Jamfont here: http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/sbdemo.zip (by the way, this Jamfont works best at about 95 bpm, but it should work at other tempos all right, too)

Note that this is only a beta version -- I only took about 15 minutes putting it together. Also notice that this is only a beta version. I wanted to see if you guys think it'd be useful and then I'll put together some big Jamfonts of wahwah guitars, distortion licks, pop basses, and more.

Enjoy! :)

P.S. Notice that little smiley I put after the "Enjoy"? Imagine the artist who drew that, knowing that millions of people would be seeing it. That reminds me of that person who drew the little stick figures for road signs...

..

I never did like those smilies. Am I the only one who seems the think they look evil when you highlight them.. Look try it  :) ;) :D  :(

Creepy...

Anyway.. Will download and try soon. Thanks.

Yip!

I could definitely find a use for something like this.. It's a good way to stop that mechanical sound that a lot of synth music has. If I had a way of recording anything decent (and something to record  :P) I'd probably try and make some of my own.

Gregjazz

Ok cool. I'll put together a bigger Jamfont for you to mess around with. I'm going to make Jamfonts of all the instruments I own. Maybe we could make it a group effort and everyone could contribute?

This sounds pretty cool. Well, thats if I knew what all this soundfont stuff is. I'm thinking of recording some songs and stuff on my guitar using cool edit 2.1. Would soundfont stuff be helpful to me?

Gregjazz

Soundfonts would only be helpful for you if you wanted access to thousands of excellent free instrument sounds. Can you do VSTs? There are lots of free soundfont player VSTs out there.

I doubt Cool Edit can do soundfonts -- it's more of a wave editor and sound mixer, right?

As I said, you could get soundfonts running on your computer for free, it's just a matter of HOW. What soundcard do you have?

auhsor

Thanks, yeah I don't think cool edit can do soundfonts. I'll probably check them out anyway, cos they sound ptretty cool.

Hmm my soundard, well my soundcard is built into my motherboard (yeah, I didnt really want that, but hey I didnt pay for my computer. Its a Realtek AC'97.
