PC World usually have stuff like that knocking around. But it's crap. To give you an example, for $800 we had a Samsung running at 1Ghz, with 128mb of ram, with a CDrw and a 14'' screen. It was big, bulky and not pretty, and the only thing it had going for it was the fact it was WiFi enabled.

You'd be much better off saving a little more and going for a special offer laptop somewhere. Places like PC world (I am giving this as a constant example because 1) I work there and 2) I know you have PC worlds over in England, but I don't know what else you have) generally run special 5-day offers that are really good value, like the Toshiba that they were selling recently for $1299 (About 950 sterling?) with 512mb Ram, 128mb Graphics Card, 2.8 Ghz with a DVDrw.

But if you really wanted it under 500 quid, get something like the samsung. Just keep browsing the bargain areas at PC world or equivelent.

Would you be interested in considering our extended warranty?
