Title: Monster's needed!!! Artist's welcome!!!
Post by: Akumayo on Tue 29/06/2004 01:15:41
I have made a battle system, (which works 8) ) and am in need of Monster's for the character to fight.  I have worked my imagination dry.  I would love it if some of you would submit your monster's to me.  You will recieve full credit for the monster.  Make sure you do the following

(required) - Draw a monster of your choosing (or make one up)
(required) - Make sure it is a 90x90 sprite
(optional) - Include your monster's name UNDER THE PICTURE, NOT IN IT
(required) - Include (in your post) whether you wish to be recognized in the credits or remain anonymous.

please submit!!!

(multiple submissions allowed)

Just what kind of a game are you making? It's hard to know what style of monster to make without knowing that.

It is an RPG, based in a small town community that stretches over about 100 miles....  Any type of monster is welcome, dragons, dogs, unicorns, cats, birds, gryphons, trolls, and just about anything else.  So long as you take into mind that the Monsters cannot talk and that there are excess numbers of any particular monster, i.e. - there are a never ending amount of each monster....  oh yeah one last thing, if anyone wants, they can include a bio on the monster they create including weight, height, eating habits, interesting facts, etc etc.

Just to clear up further... it's a tile-based RPG with a turn-based battle system, yes? So only one front facing image of each monster is required...

Are you doing the old, "mirror image" attack for each monster? :) (Not to imply that's bad, I love this stuff).

I don't know what you would consider a large town community, but 100 miles is a fucking really big small town. :o

Correct, It is a tile-based, turn-based RPG.  A front view is what I'm looking for, though a slightly turned or back view is fine if your monster has issues  :P  ;D

I'm going to ignore what Os Ultimo said for the time being....

http://img29.photobucket.com/albums/v86/Haddas/Other/Saff.png(http://img29.photobucket.com/albums/v86/Haddas/Other/Saff.png)
Saff

- About 70% the height of a human
- Weighs about 300 kg
- Flesh, no matter what kind of flesh

The Saff is not a mammal, it's a plant, and is dependant on the sun, it can't move during night-time. It prefers using its poison which it sprays from a gland(spelling?) that grows on its back. It can also be quite deadly even without the poison because of its heavy weight. A punch from this carnivourous plant can prove quite fatal. Found on open sunny places.

(I want to be in the credits!111)

The Brainator

The Brainator, belongs to the most intelligent monsters of the universum. It sucks brains of other creatures, and gains their intelligence.  :-*

I'd like to be mentioned in the credits! and maybe I'll do some more monsters later! ;D

Well I suppose everyone making a monster should get their name in the credits. That'd be the right thing to do.

Haddas, I just want to say that your avatar is FABULOUS.
Title: Re: Monster's needed!!! Artist's welcome!!!
Post by: Akumayo on Thu 01/07/2004 20:53:15
Haddas:  I see Saff as an excellent field monster for the character to face after he gets pretty far in the game.  Just so you know, Saff will have a high striking power (because of it's punch and weight) And a high Enemy Power Decrease (because of it's poison) ....  These two things are a part of the battle system.   Btw- Great Monster

Minimi:  I think that Brainator has the potential to be part of the Ancient Ruins Monsters Group (ARMG).  (In the game, after the main enemy is defeated, the character can search ancient ruins that contain deadly monsters, aka the ARMG).  Brainator will have a high Recovery (because of it's intellegence) and a high Power Increase (because of it's ability to focus) ... These two things are a part of the battle system...  Btw- Love the creapy eyes on Brainator!!!

Okidoki - some recycled stuff from way, way back:

The Roclops
(http://www.miez.nl/tmp/roclops.gif)

The Locusor
(http://www.miez.nl/tmp/locusor.gif)

The Treasure Beetle
(http://www.miez.nl/tmp/treasurebeetle.gif)

They're a bit small, but hey - they can't all be giants.  ;D

Miez- Absolutely love the monsters you drew.  Roclops is definetely on the ARMG (Ancient Ruins Monster Group) .  As for the Treasurebeetle, it will fit into the desert monsters.  And the Locusor, it can be a field monster.

Haddas- ...... um..... no thanks??.......that kind of monster wouldn't really be........FABULOUS!!!!.........I don't think.......

Okay, any more entries????

I havn't had the need to upload any pictures for a while, so I don't have any webspace or anything to show anything. *scratches head* What I mean is, I wouldn't remember passwords to them if I did. But I think someone should make a flying creature with wings and such.

At the rate it is taking me to make this MASSIVE RPG right now, I probably won't finish it for at the very very LEAST three months, but it will probably take longer.  As of right now only three rooms are complete........ BUT, the battle system is working even better than ever!!!  I will upload it to AGS when I am finished.....or...... if it is really really good, I might sell it.......NAHHHHHH!!!!    Free stuff is better ;D

You wouldn't be able to sell it unless you gave everyone who submitted a monster an equal amount of money as well as a free copy.

Post by: Akumayo on Mon 12/07/2004 01:26:38
I meant "sell" it as in to kids at my school, but I am not going to anyway because I am using sound effects from people and sites that would sue my &$$ off if I sold it to anyone....  I am not going to sell it anyway, it will be free!!!  I did get some more rooms done though ;D

Any more entries???

Post by: Akumayo on Mon 12/07/2004 23:51:21
I suppose I will post a demo eventually, but for now I need to get the storyline better established, the character can't even leave his hometown yet....  Don't worry, I will let everyone know when I post the demo, oh by the way, the title is Batling: Rise to Power

(PS- Batling is spelled like that on purpose, it is a sport, it is pronounced Bat-ling, rather than Battel-ing...) :P

Post by: Akumayo on Tue 13/07/2004 19:34:47
Minimi- Very nice, and mean....  I think it will go very well as a desert monster....  It will have high striking power- because of it's claws

Everyone-  I forgot to mention one thing, you see, in my game, there are other Batlers that will challenge you.  When you enter a Batle, a message tells you [yourname] vs [foe] , eg: David vs Jasper.  I was wondering if any of you would like to become characters in the game like this.  As in, if I were in the game (which i am not)  then at the beggining of the Batle the message would say David vs Akumayo.  Anyone who has entered a monster may be in the game if they wish, just post and tell me if you want to or not!

Any more entries???

Remmies- I won't edit your name, and I didn't forget Chub-Chub because he and evilHat are the only "nice" characters.  Every one else is "tough"
PS- When is "Doll" coming out, it looks creepy and interesting

Haddas- Sure, your in

Dart- I shall call it Mantifly.  It shall be a High level forest Monster.  (thanks for it honestly, I have been waiting for a good forest monster to go along with my monster called Waspit)

Everyone else-  I forgot to mention, I will need to know your skin tone (ie- black or white), and your hair color (ie-blonde, brunett, black, sandy blonde, red, highlights) sorry about that :P

Any more entries or people who want to be characters ???

Thanks Haddas, but for everyone's future reference, the retina (colored part of the eye) in my game, is a two pixel long vertical black line, so, eye color is not needed, as it sometimes blends with hair and makes the person look, *alienish*

Here's my monsters. Take 'em if y' like.

(EDIT: just realized I was supposed to post the names UNDER the pictures... oh well, I'm sure you're smart enough to figure it all out...)

STONEBORER
This rare tentacled mass feeds on farious minerals, and tends to be found in caves or ruined buildings, slowly digesting the minerals found in rocks with acis it secretes from its muscular tentacles. Has been known to firecly defend its territory when approached and has a taste for the metal of adventurers' armor and weapons.

BIGMOUTH (change the name if you like)
These menacing creatures have large, pointy teeth and are notorious for biting peoples' torso off.

CARRION BEAST
Essentially a mean, sentient compost heap (with arms).  Constantly roaming dark, damp areas in search of rotting material, but they don't pass up opportunities to kill and devour the living, either.

Oh, and if you want to include me (Ozwalled, or Oz for short) in the game, I'm male, pale, have short brown hair and pretty much ALWAYS wear a hat of some sort.

Post by: Ozwalled on Wed 14/07/2004 23:24:10
shit. double posted. I though for sure there was a delete option here.

But anyway, I guess I'd like to be included in the credits as Ozwalled if you use any of this.

I made another monster :p

SSM-Shata

This troll-kinda fellow, has no feeling, and no personality. It is only driven by instinct to survive, and eat whatever the prey is. Even it's own kind!

btw, I am  white skinned, dark hair(short spikes), and green/blue eyes. I were glasses too. Call me "Minimi", or "Solidus". Choose wich one you like the most.

Good luck with your game. If I get more inspiration, I might even draw a fourth one ;)

Here's more...

BANSHEE
The banshee is a creature, perhaps a ghostly apparition, that vaguely resembles a human female. These tend to be seen around places of worship or graveyards and are considered a very bad omen... Their glass-shattering wails can bring a man to his knees.

ORANGE WORM
These deadly predators have poisonous, paralysing bites and the females will sometimes lay their eggs inside their still-living, but  immobilized prey.

MAN-EATING FROG
No one's quite sure how, but over time this large species of frog has aquired a taste for human flesh. Curiously, unlike any other known frog, they have complex, organized social structures, and tend to hunt in small packs.

FAIRY (or PIXIE or NIXIE)
A tiny, sometimes benevolent, sometimes mischevous creature. Can be vicious and form swarms if they feel threatened. Though tiny, they wield some powerful magic and can summon and control the powers of nature.

Ozwalled- OMG, OMG, that's a lot of entries ;D .  so, here we go...  I can't use StoneBorer because of the way it is drawn, in the game monster's are in one corner, you are in the other, StoneBorer has no "body" to speak of in it's picture, if you add a body, I will be happy to use it!  BigMouth will be cast as a mountain monster.  Carrion Beast will be cast as a high level forest monster and as a cave creature.  Banshee will be cast around all Ancient Ruins areas, but not in them.  Orange Worm will be cast as a Forest monster of both low and high level.  Man-eating Frog will be cast as a lake and forest monster, whatever room it appears in, it will be the sole inhabitant of.
Pixie I cannot use be cause of the EXTREMELY MILD nudity, perhaps if you add a loincloth down *there*, and another up *there* then I will gladly use it!
PS- you can be a character!

Minimi-  SSM-Shata will be cast as a field monster of all levels (ie- low, medium, high).  You can be a character, and your name shall be Minimi

remmies-  You can be a character as well

Any more entries??  Or people wanting to be character's ???

ArboriS-  NOT to sound mean, but I can't use your sprite, it is beautifly drawn, but I can't exactly cast it is a monster that jumps you on the side of the road, know what I mean?  Still, it's a great sprite!

Hotspot- you can clean up EvilHat if you want, but I will use him even if you don't ;D

Just a quick clean up - added black rim underhat to make it look more shaded, made background white to show this and to make it easier for you to import (you will have to change the background colour first, but it looks stupid on pink(the colour I always use) :)), tried to fix the eyes.

Dont bother about giving me credit.

No offence taken offcourse. As I already said it was something I drew earlier . I kinda guessed you couldn't use this, but you never know.
I'm busy now on some sprites, starting with a "goblin knight" and even in 90x90 so you can actually use it :P

Ozwalled- Thank you very much. I shall call it Pixie, and it shall be found in the forest and near the Ancient Forest Ruins.  It will be a rare sighting indeed.  Perhaps, since it is so rare, the character will get some kind of power-up just for finding and defeating it!!!

Sounds great. Love the picture of me, btw (though a dark shirt with light letters would suit me more).  :P

Anyway, here's three more (the descriptions for these are crap, mind you):

EXECUTIONER (change this name if you like)
I have no real description for this one. It's up to you, really.

PHANTOM
A ghost.

DEMON
A winged demon, straight from the bowels of heck.

EDIT:

GIANT FLOATING HEAD (placid and angry versions)
It's a great big, giant floating head. Don't get him angry or he may eat you all!

The "Goblin Knight" as promised.

the editable bmp is here: http://members.lycos.nl/arboris/AGS/GoblinKnight.bmp

*EDIT*
Made 8 different palletes for the Goblin Knight.
Maybe this will help you too. I made this a few years back for the RPG2k editor 'cause a friend of mine was making a game with it. He never finished it tho... So maybe you have any use for these sprites.

Hi, just stumbled over this post and dug out a small troll:
(http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/minitroll.gif) (Size x2)
Trolls like that usually live in dense northern forests and eat anything that is alive. They have a primitive culture and they can make axeblades and spearheads (their main weapons) from hammered copper. Usually they stalk the forests alone.

He's rendered, so I can easily animate him or draw him from different sides if needed (or make him look more evil).
If you wish to mention me for doing this one lousy monster  ;D, Isegrim is fine, thanks.
Cool idea, btw.

Here's the stoneborer, with a body on the floor this time, in case that helps. If you do want it on the ceiling, feel free to flip it over.

EDIT: Changed it so that the creature wasn't going out of frame.

EDIT:

NOBLE WARRIOR
Crusading to purge the world from his enemies, only his death will stand between him and seeking vengence.

EDIT:

GIANT CRAB
A giant, amphibious crustacean. It can store large amounts of water in its body for long periods of time, thus enabling it to have etched out a niche in desert climates, as well as areas near water. Its hard, thick shell protects it against attacks as well as the desert heat. Though lagely an eater of carrion, the giant crab will fiercly defend its territory when approached.

ArboriS-  I think I can use the Goblin Knight as a sort of "Guardian" to temporarily block walkways, leaving it up to the main character to defeat it.

Isegrim-  The MiniTroll can be a high level forest monster

Ozwalled- I think I might need to dedicate a whole section of the Credits to you after all this ;D .  StoneBorer can be a cave creature and a Lake creature.  Phantom and Banshee can play similar roles.  Winged-Demon can be a mountain monster, and in the ARMG (Ancient Ruins Monster Group).  Noble Warrior can be a "Guardian" of sorts like the Goblin Knight.  Giant Crab can play as both a Desert and Ocean and Lake creature.  (anything I didn't comment on, I couldn't use)  Thanks again!!

Anymore entries/ character wannabees

Oz, why on earth do you use screen grabs of the forums as backgrounds? I'm just curious.

I'm just using transparent backgrounds, so the forum background ends up showing though.

Want more?

(EDIT: Just noticed ArboriS's post with the colour variations. If you want any of the creatures here with alternate colours, and don't have a good, quick way of doing that, I can whip some of those up for ya'. Just PM me with the monster, and colour reequests, if any.)

GIANT FLOATING HEAD
Much like the previous floating head, only more cartoony. And yellowy.

GIANT FUNGUS
These things are usually found growing on recently-used battlefields and feed on the decomposing bodies that still lie there. Their spore clouds can cause nausea and under the right conditions, can even lead to fungal infections in the lungs.

ANGEL
A holy guardian. Usually guard sacred places or try to intervene when man attempts an action that could threaten their god.

UNDERDWELLER
A green-skinned being that lives its live underground. Though they mostly keep to themselves, these creatures do come to the surface occasionally to collect certain resources or trade with folk who live on the surface. Can be mean-spirited and violently protect the holes they dig to the surface (they're very secretive about that sort of thing). (this picture shows one popping up from a hole it burrowed to the surface)

HYPNO-EYE
Giant, floating eyes that use wave tentacles in hypnotic patterns in order to disable their enemies. People under a hypno-eye's trance have been known to kill themselves in all kinds of strange ways, from throwing themselves off cliffs to disembowling themselves.
(or, they could just have really strong tentacles and use them to crush people, too, if that suits you better)

SHAGGY WOOLBEAST
A big hairy mass of danger! Deceptively swift, and remarkably intelligent, the shaggy woolbeast is an animal that's at the top of the food chain for good reason. Its prowess in hunting also make it a highly-sought-after commodity: its warm, waterproof, protective (and breatheable) pelts fetch incredible prices. Warriors and hunters brave enough to battle the woolbeast have been honoured through history for their courageous deeds.

HANDWALKER
The Handwalkers are a tribe of some of the most profficient hand-to-hand combat specialists known. Their combat expertise is such that they opt to fight walking on their hands when doing battle with anyone besides one of their own tribesmen, for the sake of fairness and honour. Even in this awkward-looking position, however, they are more than a match for all but the most skilled warriors. (oh, and they have opposable toes, allowing them to hold weapons and stuff with their feet)

EDIT:

FLAMING SKULL
These lesser demons act as a first line of defense to demons. They exist solely to wreak firey havok wherever they happen to fly.

(http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/flameskull.png) (http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/flameskull2.png)

STONE GOLEM
Usually the product of masterful wizards, they are masses of stone that have been magically given life. Nearly mindless, they are obedient solely to their master and creator. It has been said, though, that some roam aimlessly once their wizard has died. There are even tales of some rogue stone golems who have gone on to learn about their surroundings and who have become quite intelligent. Tales aside, stone golems are massively powerful, nearly impervious to any kind of damage, seem to feel no pain, and are extremely dangerous.

viktor:Ã,  I need 90x90 sprites, thanks for attempting though...

Haddas:Ã,  Made your shirt dark grey and pants dark red.Ã,  Your hair has been trimmed.Ã,  (I am to lazy to upload it though :P )

Ozwalled:Ã,  Oh yeah, your getting your own section in the credits. ;D ;D ;D ....Ã,  Okay here we go......Ã,  Cant use:Ã,  Giant Head, because I can't find a suitable area in the world to put it.Ã,  Giant Fungus,Ã,  I can't see a fungus rearing up and attacking, which is what I need in the Monsters.Ã,  Angel, once again, I don't think it would fit anywhere in the world.Ã,  Handwalker, to cool to be a monster, if this were a bigger RPG, it could be it's own race...Ã,  Ã, .Ã,  Flaming Skull, what is your deal with heads??? ;) ????Ã,  Ã, CAN use:Ã,  Under-Dweller can be cast as a cave and mountain creature.Ã,  Hypno-Eye can be in the ARMG (Ancient Ruins Monsters Group) .Ã,  Shaggy Woolbeast can be a forest and field creature.Ã,  Stone Golem can be mountain/field/cave/desert kind of guy!!Ã,  (Love his description)
PS- I don't think I will need the color variations of yours, or of ArboriS's , I only plan to use one of the variations on ArboriS's....Ã,  Thanks anyway!!!

Everyone-Ã,  I have a pretty much playable demo ready, you can only go about 1/20 of the game so far, but if you want it, I can TRY to e-mail it to you if you give me your address.Ã,  The only monsters in use so far are Sneak, Orange Worm, Man-Eating Frog, and Spide-A since you can barely even reach the forest yet, the credits don't work, and it's a little buggy, but if you want to get a feel for it, I can TRY to e-mail "Batling: Rise To Power, the Demo" to you.

Edit:  Just wanted everyone to know, it will be a .zip file

Ozwalled:  what is your deal with heads??? ;) ????

I should ask you the same thing --  you don't seem to even like 'em! Are you one of those crazy headless people I've heard about?

*idea!*

EDIT:

HEADLESS GUARDIAN
Not much is known about headless guardians. Thought to be of supernatural origins, these grey-skinned humaoids possess an inhuman mastery of unarmed fighting technique. The few that have ever been seen have been spotted guarding the entrances to ruined temples, and presumably, whatever secrets might lie within. Few have ever slipped past these diligent sentries and lived on to tell the tale. Legend has it that they are ancient guardians to demonic prisons, as much guarding agaisnt the prisoners as they are agaisnt the intruders. Where their uniform comes from, and what its significance is, if any, is also shrouded in mystery.

EDIT:

AIRSHARK
The sky's top of the food chain.  Thought to hover as a result of hot air in their bellies, the airshark rarely rarely preys upon anything on solid ground. When it does, however, its attacks are usually extremly swift, bloody, brutal and often fatal. When airsharks DO hunt near the ground, it's usually near water, probably since they get confused by the sky's reflection.

EDIT: I think you'd mentionned something about a...

UNICORN
Mysterious and VERY rarely seen, the unicorn is much like a white horse witha single horn on it's head. It is however, said to be a magical creature, and that it has the ability to speak telepathically. Its horn, said to be the source of its magic, and is believed by some to grant its bearer a single wish. Fake unicorn horns are often sold as a result, to people who are none the wiser.

EDIT: And something about a...

GRIFFIN (or is this a Hippogriff... I can't remember...)
The griffin is a powerful, majestic beast, with the head, wings and talons of an eagle, and the body of a lion. Griffins extremely agile both in flight and on foot, griffins are deadly predators with several ways to tear their victims apart. Thankfully, griffins rarely seek out conflict -- if encountered, it's probably because one is encroaching on its territory, near a nesting site. While some griffins have a white, blue and red coloring, it is the golden feathers of the larger, rarer golden griffin that are most highly prized.

(http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/griffin.png) (http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/griffin2.png)

GORZA
An evolutionnary cousin to the Bigmouth (with smaller mouths, hair on their heads and less of a mean streak), the Gorza is a primitive race of hunters. Though not very sophisticated, they are strong and more than capable of making basic, but effective traps.

MAGMA MONSTER
Originating deep beneath the surface, magma monsters seem to be composed of magma/ lava. Rarely are they seen above ground, but when they are, these behemoths leave nothing but firey devestation in their wake, before once against melting their way through the crust. Radiating intense heat, magma monsters are barely approchable (I'm thinking that this would be a nifty creature for some fire and/ or earth-controlling mage to take control of and wreak a little havok with).

(a bit of a recycled image, I know, but I think it looks pretty darn snazzy just the same)

And since you seem to be so insistant on creatures with bodies...

OZWALLED (version 2.0)
You know how in RPGs that you defeat a character and then they come back as a stronger version? Yeah, well that's what this is all about. Once your version of Ozwalled gets his butt handed to him by the player character, from his ashes springs OZWALLED 2.0! Oh yes -- you KNOW you want this in the game!... As a secret bonus, maybe?....

...or maybe some assistance would be good?...

---
OH! And I just noticed that your title (Batling), should, I THINK, be spelled Battling (unless you mean it in a "young bat" sense, which would be a-ok).  and for future reference, since I noticed you doing it a couple of times, plurals are not done with an "apostrophe s" (i.e., it should be monsters and artists, NOT monster's and artist's, for example).

The Warlock, not only know for it's bad taste in selecting matching colors for its wardrobe but also for his devestating firebolt attacks. These guys float mid air with the shear power of there minds. They never touch the ground to walk since they find the use of muscle vulgar.

(http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/Warlock.gif)Ã,  (http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/Warlock.gif)

The Jelly/Drop, No RPG can go without one of these guys! Tiny, small and usually pretty weak. They resist alot of physical damage but can't handle the magic well

(http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/Drop.gif)Ã,  (http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/Drop.gif)

*EDIT*
Heh, using the actuall heads of the persons in question like that would make it look alot funnier Ozwalled :)

Remmies- Yes, you can send in more monsters.  Everyone who enters a monster at all will be included in the credits, for example:  Monster Art:  Remmies- Chub Chub
                                      ArboriS-    Goblin Knight, Warlock
                                      Isegrim-    Mini Troll
(this list is incomplete of coarse)

Ozwalled- I can't use Magma Monster because it resembles Rock Golem too much.  Batling is a sport that is pronounced (Bat-Ling)  It is spelled this way on purpose.  Headless Guardian can serve as a pathblocker.  Airshark can be a field and Ocean Monster.  Unicorn can be a VERY rare field monster that gives you a rare item.  Griffin can be a Mountain monster.
I am not going to comment on Ozwalled 2.0

ArboriS-  Warlock can be a powerful cave creature, I know I should use the blob, but I am not going to, sorry

Any more Entries??? ;D :) ;) :D :o 8) ::)

Remmies- The monsters remain still.  So just one frame is needed.  Sorry... :'(

Here's a few more, of the aquatic variety:

MERMAN
Though they do occasionally spend short amounts of time on shore, mermen are truly at home in the water. They are strong fighters (even on land) and tough-skinned, both due to the fact that hey need to deal with the resistance and crushing weight of the water.

LANTERNFISH
Usually residing in dark, murky depths of water or in watery caves, the gigantic lantern fish lures its prey towards its a toothy demise with the help of a phosporecent "bulb" that grows from a stalk on it the dorsal side of its head. Lantern fish avoid eating themselves by having become almost completely blind and lacking pigmentation.

GIANT JELLYFISH
Usually these gigantic masses of gelatenous material can only be found at the depths of seas or lakes, but sometimes natural phenomena such as unusually large tides or rough storms bring them inland or to the water's sufrace. This is where they can become a real danger: their plethora of tentacles is highly venemous, potentially paralysing nervous systems and burning flesh with digestive enzymes. The sting of a single tentacle usually results in an intensely painful burn, throwing the victim into a frenzy, where they often will get caught up on other tentacles, leading to paralysis, and eventually the shutting down of the heart and lungs.

Never mess with small trolls, they might bring their big brother!

3xsize:

The big troll comes either equipped with a spear (hunter: less dangerous) or with a big axe (warrior: extremly dangerous!).
Hunters are usually loners, while warriors travel in packs. It is not likely to meet one alone...

Czar-  Um....okay?

WATER ELEMENTAL
Most often found nead some source of water, these mystical, water-based beings usually take on the approximate form of a massive, crushing tidal wave, though they have been known to assume other shapes as well. Powerful and unyielding, water elementals are extremely dangerous and unpredictable. Thier motives are completely unknown.

BLOAT
Opinions are divided about Bloats. Some say that they are the zombies of drowned sea captains, others belive that they're copses possessed by demons who stetch their host's skin to accomodate their large evil presence, and others still tell the tale of a nomatic, aquatic race of heavyweights. What's for certain, though, is that they are voracious flesh-eaters of just about anything that moves. Their appetite is only rivaled by their incredible patience, as they'll sometimes wait in one spot, seemingly dormant, for literally WEEKS at a time, in order to snare another victim. Interestingly enough, Bloats never blink.

OGRE (or, if you already have something called an "ogre", then DROG or something)
Thick with muscle, orges are incredibly strong. Thier strength and power allow them to use tree trunk as clubs and hurl large boulders with ease, which they tend to do, as they're easily angered. Thankfully, they're also none too intelligent. This trait however, might just be their most dangerous, as they're easily sawyed by powerful people to become henchmen.

FIRESNAIL
This giant snail, though slow, it a nasty customer. Its protective shell sheilds it against attack, and when disturbed its slime contains a slow-working acid that seeps in through the pores to liquify a body from the inside. Kidney failure usually occurs first, followed by the circulatory system and internal organs rupturing, resulting in a particularly painful death. Those affected by the acid have a small chance of recovery if treated with an antidote early. Firesnails are a peacful species. They are only found near water, as they need to keep their bodies moist, or perish. When properly prepared, the flesh of the Firesnail is considered a delicacy in some parts of the world.

CRIMSON SILF
A large bird of prey. Skilled hunters with razor-sharp talons and long-range vision.

MOONLENS
These mysterious, nocturnal creatures resemble a large hoop with bat-like wings, talons and a rat-like tail. Their most peculiar feature, though is the central portion of their body: a transparent, glass-like "lens" that, when exposed to the light of the moon, seems to be able to be honed into a powerful and harmful energy beam. Nor the exact nature of the beam or of Moonlenses themselves is known. They are a compelte mystery.

UPDATE:

SEPTOPUS
The giant, seven-limbed septopus, though native to the oceans, has been sighted on land for short periods of time (perhaps washed ashore or looking for food). Very intelligent and cunning, it has the ability to jet out blinding ink and change its skin colour in order to conceal itself. Its tentacles' grip is like an iron vice and its suckers have toothy procetions that embed themselves into the flesh of the spetopus's prey, making its hold that much more secure.

GOBLIN THIEF
A pesky creature, goblins can be a force to be reconned with in numbers. Often seeking to gain at the expense of others, many goblins have turned into a life of thievery. These sly brigands are agile and elusive, and due to a diet consisting mostly of rotting meat, have a septic bite that usually cause wounds to become infected or diseased.

GROK
Groks are strong, dim-witted, purple-skinned humanoids that have had a history of poor relations with humans due to their historical use as heavy-laboring slaves. Groks eventually revolted against their human masters in a bloody revolution that left many villages across the continent ruined. Groks have since gone on to form societies of their own, away from human meddling. Their economy still relies partly on human currencies, however, and some of their resouces are still obtained with trade through human merchants.

SQUIDHEAD
Squidheads are magic-using creatures living in or near water, in order to keep their bodies moist (they breathe through their skin, which needs to be in contact with water in order to "suck in" oxygen). They are a very secretive race that mostly keeps to themselves and practice their arcane arts. Though humanoid in form (despite having a squid-like head), their bodies are rarely seen, since they wear cloaks.

WATERSNAKE
Though non-poisonous, watersnakes have needle-like teeth that they use to bite their prey with. Other methods of attack include crushing their prey by coiling around their body.

Remmies-  Your squid is a big red X

Ozwalled-  Water Element will make an excellent sea critter.  Fire-Snail will make an excellent field and forest creature.  Crimson Silf can be a creature that appears all over the place.  Moonlens will be a cave creature, however, instead of moonlight, how about light reflected in water to power the energy beam, since my RPG is always daytime...  Septopus will be in the ARMG of the sea ruins.  Squid Head can appear on the beaches.  Water Snake will make a good Lake and Sea creature.  Everything else couldn't be used for one reason or another, but once again beautiful sprites!!!
PS- check you PM's

Do what you like with the Moonlens or any of the creatures that I make here. It's your game, after all!

Here's another one, though:

GLADIATOR
A warrior slave who fights for glory and his life in the arena he's bound to.

And because I feel that you need more female content:

SORCERESS
A specialized magic user, capable of casting powerful spells against her foes.

EDIT: And I think Remmies' squid looks like this (as there was a mistake in the URL, with the http:// repeated twice):

Ozwalled-  Gladiator and Sorceress will do very well as pathblockers that halt your progress until you can defeat them.  Oh and thanks for "translating" Remmies red X into a GIF.

Remmies-  The Squid can play as an ocean creature.

Evil-  Excellent, I had thought you simply didn't want to enter.  Mr. Flibble had an excellent suggestion.  It shall be called LandFish and appear on routes close to the ocean and lakes, but not in them!!  MuHA!!!
