Hey guys, I don't want to make a big deal out of this, but just want to keep you all up to date. Due to an unresolved dispute, I will be leaving the Critic's Lounge section. I don't want to go into the details, but it's messy and the word "abrasive" was thrown around like an unwanted baby.
I will still be making games, so no worries. I probably will continue to post in a few of the other sections, too. So it's not like I'm peacing on you guys.
This situation could be temporary, and I may return if some changes are made.
Until then, if anyone wants specific crits or advice, post in here: http://herculeaneffort.com/yabb/index.php?board=6.0
and I'll be more than happy to help you out to the best of my ability. As a professional game developer, I can offer a different perspective, so it's in your favor.
Let me just emphasize that this is an informational thread. I'm not throwing a tantrum or to quote DGMacphee, kicking the cat (cracks me up), but rather just letting people know where to go if they want a crit from me. Let's keep this light.
Sorry to hear that, but I am not "directly affected", because I've PMed to you asking for crits and you have allways been kind and helpfull... I can continue doing that.
Still, a pitty for those who don't feel confident to PM you or going to your website...
Anyway, wouldn't the "offender" win, in some way, if you leave? Hope this is temporary...
Professional game developer?

The apprentice games have a built-in keylogger, so yes he does ;)
Sorry to hear that, i think you are the most professional advisor here on the forums as far as graphics are concerned.
I still think you should give your knowledge to those who wants it, and ignore those who don't like you.
This is a real shame. Without knowing anything of the dispute, I hope that it can be resolved to the satisfaction of all concerned. Would that it was possible to abandon the unwanted baby of 'abrasive' to the elements, as did the ancient Romans, and start again.

Actually it's a dialer, not a keylogger... Whoops, did I just say that?
;D
I'm sorry to hear that too.
Your criticisms and suggestions have always been incredibly useful.
For a professional game developer, though, you're behaving rather unprofessionally in this situation. In my view, ProgZmax was correct*, and the right thing to do is to apologise and move on. It's certainly not the right thing to suggest that "changes" be made to the Critic's Lounge.
* If you're not talking about the furries thread, then I apologise and take it all back. :=
Agreed. Mind to tell us what this controversy was about? If it was indeed the furries thread, then your criticism was not only from a "different perspective", but a bit over the top as well.
Anyhow, good luck with your own forum.
Meanwhile, the rest of our community can rest assured that our own forum will still have plenty of professional artists who can provide c&c, and who also can handle a bit of moderation whenever it's required.
Is this kind of thread what happens to game makers/amateurs when they grow up ?
Sorry if this sounds bitter, but that 's how I read it... I just can't accept this kind of argument anywhere outside out of a company's intranet. Or memos.
:(
Not sure what you mean, cp.
Didn't expect compliments, but thanks, guys. I don't deserve them and there are plenty of competent people here to help the CL live on.
By "professional", I meant that I have experience (salary and contract), so I can always give that angle. These forums and the community itself is amateur by nature, so there's no sense in formalizing it and losing the fun.

For all you know, those "changes" involve you getting paid every time you post, Steve. ;)
Like I said before, this is not a thread to talk about the dispute. It has been an ongoing thing for quite some time, and it doesn't look like it can be resolved. I haven't seen a good enough reason to remain and prolong it. However, I'd like to stay available if people want my opinion or help, which is why I mentioned the HEP forums (http://herculeaneffort.com/yabb/index.php?board=6.0).
But dude, you were like a big brother to me...

BS... Thanks to using your and others' tutorials, and reading critizism from you, Loominous, Andail, ProgZ and other artists, I've improved tons since joining here. It's played a major part in getting my current job (working on an animated TV-series) which is a dream.
It'd be great to have you all sticking around here.
I don't know much about the dispute, but nobodys perfect and these things happen. They mean very little in the bigger context.
What I mean is that I can't understand why people have to declare they are leaving when they can just stop posting in a board.
May be it was nothing but my way of reading the post and the replies.
Forget it.
